Has anyone invited their childs daycare class to a 3yr old b-day party? What kind of responses did you get? Did the whole class show up or only a few? Just curious.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

I am the owner of a children's party business. I have found that most of my parties are always close to 100% in attendance. People in this economy are looking for fun ways to entertain their children and not spend an incredible amount of money - and attending friend's birthday parties are one of those ways it seems!

The ages that I do parties for are between ages 3 and 8, and I always tell parents. If you invite them, be prepared for them all to come!

I invited my son's whole class to his 3rd birthday and I only heard from one mom who said she would come but then her son caught the flu. I never heard any other yes's or no's.

Hi, L....

I am also with Noah's Ark Animal Workshop, and I agree that you could see about doing it at the day care. We have lots of themes you can choose from, and you could even talk to the teacher about having a lesson that goes with your workshop theme (i.e. Woodland Animals with our Summer Camp Crazy animals- raccoon, bears, frogs, and Bumble Bear.) Regina would love to help you find something that would work with your day care center and age group. She is awesome! Definitely talk with her about it!

We've been invited to quite a few parties when our children were in pre-school. I actually still have one in pre-school right now. My daughters have usually gone to the parties. I think kids of that age are friendly with all the kids in their class.

I did notice that not too many of the kids from class showed up to the parties though.

Although, when my daughter had her 4th b-day party she chose to only invite the kids she was very friendly with.

I would say that you should not expect that many of them will come.

By the way if you need any entertainment for your party, my husband and I are professional clowns living in Anna. We offer facepainting, balloon sculptures, comedy magic shows, friendship bracelets, along with fun interaction and games. We've entertained at birthday parties and large events like the Plano Balloon Festival.

Our prices are very reasonable (we have four great kids of our own so we know how expensive things can get)and we do our best to work within a person's budget.

Please feel free to take a look at our website at www.freewebs.com/bubblesandwowza for samples of our work.

Give us a call at ###-###-#### if you have any questions at all.

Hope you have a great party whatever you decide to do.

Hope to hear from you,

I chose not to have parties for my son at that age, but we were invited to lots of parties from his daycare classmates and we went to all of them. However, when I talked to the moms, they said that NO ONE (except for us) ever RSVP'd. Usually only 3-4 kids would show up. Based on that, when I had my son's 5th bday party, I only invited my friends and their kids (all of whom he was good friends with as well). That way, if I had not heard from someone, I would just call them up and say, "Hey...are you guys coming to the party?" Then, I would know how many people were coming. Last year, when he turned 6, we just had a family party. Honestly, the lack of RSVP makes me upset/mad. I don't want to shell out money for a party if I can't get an understanding of how many people will be there. My son REALLY wants a party next year and I think I will only invite 3-4 kids and do something really special (like a water park or something). But again, I will only invite kids that I am comfortable with asking their parents - hey, are you coming?

We invited my sons daycare class to his 2yr old birthday. He had about 8 kids in his class, no one rsvp, but 2 kids did show up. No one else that I know of has had a party. I think it might be a day-care thing that parents don't invite kids till school age.

I am a child entertainer and do lots of 3 year old parties. I have noticed that only the child's close daycare friends (or mom's that are friends) at that age tend to show up to the parties.
As an idea, some moms do the actual parties AT the daycare. They do them in the afternoons after naptime.
Just my two cents,
R.

Dear L.:

You never know. There were 12 children in my son's daycare class at 3 years old. 14 children showed up. I prepared 12 gift bags "just in case" everyone came. I wasn't counting on everyone plus siblings!

Other parties have had sparse guests. Go with the flow and enjoy.

Jen
