I had an IUD put in after my first baby who is now 8 months old. they had a hard time putting it in because my uterus is tilted.. About a month ago after my period it fell out. I didnt like it because it my my period last from 5-7 days where as be4 it only lasted 3. i liked it because i had nothing to worry about. so i guess it is all up to you good luck

I have one but just got it two months ago. My OB LOVES IUD's and said they are extremely popular right now.

I had the IUD for 7 yrs & regret it! For the first few years i thought it was great, & i loved not having to worry about taking a pill daily or other birth control. However after years my periods started getting extreme, they would last 12-14 days & be extremely heavy the entire time. I would spot all the time between periods. I started having a lot of pain during intercourse & terrible cramps. After learing that i had HPV & BV i had it taken out. The doctor told me that the IUD caused these problems & could cause infertility. I have been trying to get pregnaunt for three years now & cant. Within 2 months of having it out my periods were regular & the pain & cramping stopped. I definately would not recommend using the IUD. The convince of it just isnt worth he damage it will cause in the long run.

Hi there. i too just got the iud back in feb. after mt second child. I love it. I would not use anything else after using this one. They said my periods would be light if i even had one at all. That has not been the case with me but i still love the iud..

I am 23 years old.. I got mine at my 6 week checkup after my daughter was born. She is 18 months, and I have not really had any problems at all. My fiance loves it. We have been together for three and half years, says he would not change a thing. I am not sure why everyone thinks it hurts so much when getting it in. Cause I thought it was easier than when I had laser surgery for cervical cancer. I also thought it was easier then the epiderals. I had three during my delivery, I was in labor for 31 hours. I think they hurt more then it. I think you will love it. Protects for five years, some of them and mostly no periods..

I had one years ago with my second and got it out after 6 mths. I was breastfeeding and kept bleeding and I never had periods while nursing my first! I did not use it again as the thought of putting something in me like that just didn't sound right. I used a diaphram and it worked just fine w/o the dangers of other birth control.

M. too have an IUD I got it about a year and half ago, right after my youngest son was born. I must say I love it. Nothing to remember, no side effects like the pill might cause, no periods or if I do have one it's only every 3-4 months for half a day. It is great. Hurt like heck going in, but now it's fine. The only downfall from my husbands viewpoint is he feels in certain positions. If you are planning on getting pregnant again sometime, after you take the IUD out is appaerently easy to do, so that is a plus for me. Good luck with your IUD, I hope it works out as great for you as it has for me.

I have an IUD, and I HATE it! It has cause a cyst, terrible cramps, (so bad I have had to go to the hospital for them). Sometimes I have a period, sometimes I don't, but either way I have all the other symptoms of my period. I wish I had never gotten it. Also, my doctor won't take it out, because it had also malfunctioned. I now have to have surgery to have it removed. I strongly advise against it everytime someone asks me about it.
