Ok, I keep hearing about how people are saving all this money with coupons. So what is the secret and how do you keep it all organized? Can you do it without spending hours organizing? Or are there other ways to save money on groceries.

What can I do next?

www.couponmom.com or www.thegrocerygame.com

I use both of these websites. Couponmom is free and The grocery game costs a small fee, but it is so worth it. Here's what I do:

I have my husband buy a double sunday paper (early edition on Saturday) so I get two sets of coupons. I have a file folder where I mark them with the date and put the packets of coupons in there. I do not take the time to cut them out then. Then I look at my list from either (or both) websites. I find which deals I want and it tells me which coupon book and date to get the coupon from. I then cut the coupons and take to the store. It takes a few weeks to really get into the swing of things and get a stockpile of coupons, but once you do, you'll save lots of money! I also signed up for the Dallas Morning News "Briefing" which is a free Wed-Sat delivery. Saturday's one has coupons in it and Wednesday's has all the store ads. I sure hope this helps you! Good luck and happy shopping!

I use the grocery game. I also use a file thing (got it at Walmart for under 10$) Then when I get my coupons on Sunday I just make a new hanging folder with the date on the tab and stick it in there. The Grocery game comes out on Sunday. I sit down and check the deals that I want to use. Then I get out my files and the grocery game tells you what date and where the coupon is (red plum or smart source) I clip and put in a enevlope. I take my enevople and my list from GG and do my shopping. Last week I saved over 110$ at Tom Thumb (spend 126$) and CVS tells you your year todate savings and I'm over 200$ I have stock piles of toliet paper, paper towels, laundry det., toothpaste and all sorts of other personal care items. If you don't have to buy everything on the list. Infact I don't buy anything that I would not normally buy.
If you have questions let me know. I'm very proud of my savings. It feels like black Friday shopping every Sunday!!!!

It takes some time to figure it out & get going, and some work every week but it's sooo worth it. Where I was spending $500 a month on groceries, I'm down to $200 for a family of five & I'm not buying generic.

i also do the grocery game. I take sundays paper and cut out all coupons for items that I would use. Then I file in a 3 ring binder with baseball card inserts. I have dividers for frozen, refrig, snacks and household etc. This way is easier for me than filing the whole coupon insert. It takes a little time to get organized at first but now I dont really notice. I just do coupons when I drink my coffee sunday morning. It is worth it. I went to CVS this week and spent 30.00 and saved 45.00. Albertsons was 70.00 and I saved 55.00. That 100.00 i spent was groceries for my family for 2 weeks. I used to spend about 250.00 every two weeks, not to mention the in between trips for milk, bread.. etc. I have been doing it for a while and am able to spot some deals for myself. I have a stock of toothpaste and did not pay more than a quarter for each one! Let me know if you want more info about it. Good luck.

My mother n law & I take the sale papers to Walmart because they will price match and we get the things we need & most of the time someone has them on sale, we also get coupons from the betty crocker website, the paper & if you have items you buy alot you can usually got to their website & print a coupon. For example I went to country crock & got a .55 coupon & to angel soft & got a coupon. It doesn't take long at all & soon it's a habit and you really save alot. Last week Albertsons was having a sale for .50 items and my reciept said I saved 68.00 & I only spent 16.00, thats awsome! I was proud!!! I love saving money! Here's a bonus: if you live near Cleburne they have a Burkes outlet & they've got some great buys, you just have to look for the DOTS sections!. If you go in on a Friday & your under 49 you get an extra 15% off your total purchase, if your older you go on Mondays & save the same, after you get ten punches on your savings card you save an extra 20% on top of the 15%! God Bless!

I have to admit that the most I've saved from coupons alone was like $40 at one time, but I also save a lot by shopping the sales ads. This weekend I bought meat for MORE than the month of A. (8 boneless/skinless chicken breasts, 5 lbs of lean ground beef, 1 lb of shrimp, 12 petite sirloins, 1 lb wild salmon fillets, 2 lbs catfish fillets, 2 packs of sausage-one for red beans/rice, one for stuffed peppers, some pepperoni for a pizza night, sliced ham from the deli for sandwiches, and I have some chicken thighs and tilapia already in the freezer), PLUS all the other groceries for the whole week and spent $230. That was buying meats on sale, 1 coupon for one of the meats, and coupons for much of the "regular" groceries. I won't buy meat again until May though, and the rest of the month my weekly bills will average to about $60/week. What I do is use the sales papers that come in the mail, PLUS my coupons, PLUS the "inventory" I already have to come up with a menu. My menu needs to cover 26 meals and 14 snacks because I babysit and have different lunches for the kids than what I send to work with my husband. Some of what I do is casseroles or enchiladas or similar things, because 2 good sized chicken breasts make one large King Ranch Casserole which we can eat, have leftovers, and freeze the other half for another week. Or instead of frying some shrimp and having to use it all for one meal, I could take that same pound, make an awesome baked risotto with seasonal vegetables and again, that's about 5-6 servings, and healthier too. (depending on my son's fluctuating appetite). Things like that. I use a little accordian file that is about the size of a wallet (cost less than $3) and labeled my files according to the categories that work for me: "food, bath, cleaning, baby, misc, and going out". I pull the coupon sections out of the Sunday papers and go through them quickly and cut out the things I would use (or may use) by the expiration date. Throw the coupons into stacks consistent with my categories, sort by expiration date, and put them in the file. I do this on the couch while my husband and I watch a show we watch on Sundays after our son is asleep, and I'm done from start to finish before the show is half done. It will take a little longer to get started at first, until you're organized and find a little groove that works for you, but I consider it a game, and I like it. I like the fact that my husband thinks I'm cool---we don't live on a large budget, we have no debt at all except our used cars and the house, we save well, but we eat well, never do without, always have food/toiletries in case of company that stays over with little notice, and even have some extras in our lifestyle. It's teamwork--we both do what we can to bring income to the household, and as lame as it may sound, a penny saved IS a penny earned.

What I do, generally, is clip coupons for items that I would actually buy out of the double coupon sunday star-telegram. I shop at Kroger, and I'll look through their ads and they usually have the newest coupon items on sale. They double and triple coupons for extra savings. It's not a big hassle to me because I find it fun to save money!
