congrats on the new baby! when i had my 2nd, i bled for 5 weeks, stopped for a week (I was so excited!) - then spotted (I was so NOT excited)and then a few days later had another bout of bleeding for another week and a half or so.

clearly we're all different, but I would not worry about it and check with your Dr at your next post partum visit (or sooner if you are that worred)

It is very possible that it could be still from you having a baby but sometimes after you have a baby your thyroid can be giving off the wrong hormones. It wouldn't be a bad idea if this persists to get your thyroid levels checked. I bled for 7 weeks with my first and not so long with my second and third. It usually also means that you are doing too much and to take it easy. Difficult when you are chasing a little one but just try to observe when you start spotting.
By the way, if you are nursing don't let anyone tell you you can't get pregnant because you can!!!

M.,
It is possible, but pretty unlikely. It sounds more like normal postpartum hormone adjustments. You could spot a little now, then nothing for a long time, or this could turn into a "normal" period and you could could continue to having regular monthly periods. If you do not start having monthly periods it is difficult to know when you might be ovulating so you should use birth control or avoid intercourse. If you are breastfeeding talk to your doctor or midwife about birth control options that are appropriate for breastfeeding moms. In the mean time, you may want to take a home pregnancy test. Good luck.

Is this still postpartum bleeding? Have you been to your 6 week post partum doctor visit yet?

If you're exclusively breastfeeding it is unlikely (but very slightly possible) that you are pregnant.

If you are bottlefeeding it is also possible you are pregnant, but not really hugely likely. It's probably more likely your body is just getting back into normal and spotting a bit.

Are you taking a birth control pill? Begining pills after pregnancy can cause breakthrough bleeding (spotting). Take a home pregnancy test, then if it's negative repeat in one week if you don't have your period. Good luck with whatever you are hoping for.
