Any suggestions for a convertible car seats? My 7 month old is too long but not to heavy for her infant car seat.

What can I do next?

Hi D.,
We have 3 different convertible car seats (1 for my car, my husbands and my mothers). Hands down, the Britax Marathon is my favorite. It is the most comfortable for my son and the easiest to buckle him in to and adjust the straps. He has been in it since 7 months rear facing and stayed rear facing in it until 18 months. It gave more leg room rear facing then the other two we have, so he was able to staying rear facing longer. I know they are expensive, but you can use it for such a long time, that I think it is worth the money. Good Luck!

Take a look at Evenflo too. We have three boys in car seats so didn't want to spend and arm and a leg and these are great! I think what we have is Evenflo Triumph.

BRITAX MARATHON!!!!!!!!!!!!! It rear-faces to 35 lbs & harnesses up to 65, I think. It is an excellent, extremely well-made seat that far exceeds the safety standards in the US (generally, it follows European standards).

If that's really out of your budget, I've also heard fantastic things about the TruFit, which I think is made by Safety First (they sell them @ Target).

Hope that helps!!!

There are a lot of Britax fans out there but also take a look at the True Fit by First Years. I think it is just as nice, has a top safety rating, costs less, and has some great features. I love the removable head rest so that it fits better in car in the rear facing position.

I have both the Britax Marathon and the Evenflow Triumph and I MUCH prefer the Britax overall however I like the buckle on the Evenflow better. We needed one for each car-I'm not dragging a car seat in and out of the car with me each time we leave the house!

I really highly recommend the Britax Seats. We have DD now 17 months, in a Britax Boulevard. It rearfaces to 33 lbs and will forward face to 65 lbs. It has a height limit of 49 inches.

When I initially purchased the seat, I fell in love with the cushy depth of the seat. Compared to other seats, this one both appeared and felt a lot more durable and strong. After 3 minor accidents (two of which DD was asleep for and didn't wake up), I can honestly say I have no regrets about this seat. We did end up replacing the seat after the last accident as the car was not driveable and got the exact same seat!

The biggest selling points for me now, outside of Britax's stellar reputation for safety, are the ease that it installs and uninstalls in cars and the fact that the shoulder harness adjusts with a knob - so the seat doesn't need to be uninstalled to adjust and you don't need to guess which harness slot is closest to the best fit for your child, you merely turn the knob and move the harness up or down to get the best fit.

The entire Britax line is well worth the money. It's true that all car seats sold in the US are safe, they are all held to MINIMUM safety standards, but some seat manufacturers, like Britax, design and test their products for higher, more stringent, safety ratings. Right now is one of 2 annual britax sales, so look around and decide quick to take advantage of the deals to be had.
