Hello moms,

My hubby and I just had 'that'. The ' condie' was left out, for the 2nd time during our stay in US. We bought our morning pill from planned parenthood and it is 40 dollars. Tomorrow we must buy it again# it is such an amount for a student family :(#
Idk why that the condie doesn't fit my hubby's. Does it come in sizes? Just wondering..
We need a back up plan just in case this happen again. Because if condie come in size, idk where we can buy my husband's .
What would you suggest?
Fact: I never have the regular period since I got it 15 years ago. Tried many drugs and been to at least 4 obgyn, didn't help.
Allergic to IUD
Please share your birth control pill, and what is the side effects. I am clueless. And I can't see any obgyn now, we are still in the financial plan for paying my son's dental treatment. Thank you..

What can I do next?

I'm not certain that the condom doesn't fit, He seems reluctant and nay be using that as an excuse. There are other sizes as mentioned.

Try talking to Planned when you pick up the morning after pill, they will have great ideas for you (schedule an appointment if you need more time). $40 may be expensive in a student's budget but it seems so much less expensive than a baby to me. Find out for certain what IUD you were allergic to before you go. The pill had always worked very well *for me*. No side effects at all...and we are talking decades

**ADDED: You don't have to ask them for sizes, all sizes should be out on the shelf. No conversation needs to be had, and your husband doesn't need to be the one to buy them. It wouldn't hurt to try. Also, you need a Dr. to prescribe the birth control pill, so you would have to worry about not only the cost of the pills but also the appointment cost. I'd say go look online for condom sizes, http://www.trojancondoms.com/Product/ProductListVert.aspx Or even contact Trojan over the phone. They would be able to help you. and I'm sure you can even order online. You would not have to worry about in-person exchanges...**

(Thea and Dana, she MAY be saying that her husband may have the opposite problem with condom size............)

Condoms do have different sizes which can be found at any drug store.

I have never been regular either, but natural planning is still an option for you. You don't ovulate every week. Before my husband got a vasectomy (another option for you. It does cost money, but a small fraction of what a baby costs), I just used the 3 weeks after I ovulated, as "in the clear" times. Any other time like that is a guessing game.

Another option is a diaphragm for you.

Birth control pills (and any medicine) effect people differently, so there is no guarantee how you will feel, and what side effects you may have. I'm just personally not a fan of them in general.

A regular sized condom can fit over an adults FOOT and up to the KNEE... CONDOMS WILL FIT YOUR HUSBAND. He can try "Trojan Magnums" but again, if he's saying they don't fit, he'll probably still say that... because it isn't really an issue of fit. Try the "ultra thin" varieties as he'll get more of the bare feeling and might drop the "fit" issues.

All birth control pill have essentially the same medicine with similar side effects. The formulations are slightly different, so they impact different people differently, but you'd have to take one to know how it will impact YOU.

There are two IUDs, copper and Mirena. Which are you allergic to? Mirena is made of plastic, so if you're allergic to copper you might try that (since it doesn't sound like any method that requires will power or consistency will be best for you and your partner right now).

E.,
You can't just buy a brand of birth control. You must get a prescription for a Dr, and receive the birth control from either a pharmacy or that doctor. You can't "buy" the birth control pill here. You must go back to planned parenthood or another doctor and get a prescription for birth control. You can also get condoms from planned parenthood. You can simply tell them you need "small" condoms. You can also just walk into a store and buy condoms, that come in smaller sizes. You don't need to ask someone, just look at the size on the box.

when I was in college a loooong time ago, there was a medical clinic for students on campus. does your campus have one? If so, go and talk to a doctor, it shouldnt cost anything or a very low fee. I'm sure they deal with birth control issues all the time! There also used to be available a low cost health insurance plan for students.

My husband has to use Magnums or else he begins to tingle an not in the happy fun way. They can be found in any store with a pharmacy section. Just look at the boxes "magnum" should be printed in large letters....because what man doesn't want the world to know he needs a LARGER condom?

Good luck!
