Constipation with 2 Year Old Daughter

My youngest daughter is almost 2 1/2. She has been potty training for almost 2 months. She is doing great. However, the last few weeks, she has been having hard stool, and the potty training is on the back burner. She has been going a lot in her pull-ups.
So, does anyone have any suggestions on what food or beverage to give her to help this issue? Prune juice seems the obvious, but I doubt she'd drink it. She is a picky eater!

What can I do next?

Blueberries are very high in fiber and as well as pears. My daughter always gets either blueberries, blackberries, rasberries, strawberries, and or pears at breakfast. That seems to keep her very regular.

Here is a link that lists other high fiber foods that you might want to try. Good luck! http://pediatrics.about.com/od/nutrition/a/0806_high_fibe...

I'm so sorry this is happening! Constipation can be very frustrating.
I would try giving her fresh pears, upping water intake and taking a fish oil capsule such as Nordic Naturals. I recommend it so much on this site that people are probably getting sick of me mentioning it:) but it really does work.
I hate to discount anyones thoughtful advice but I would discourage you from giving mineral oil. It is dangerous to ingest and seeps out of the body. When my neice was 2 years old she was prescribed mineral oil and had to wear a pad in her undies. Olive oil is a great alternative and has health benefits besides relieving constipation.
I think prunes are yucky:) Try pears or peaches. I think it's fruits that start with "P".....?

if she'd eat oatmeal or drink orange juice that usually gets our son going. our pediatrician also recommended giving him a spoonful of benefiber in milk/juice/food daily to combat his hard stools. she did also say that apples/apple juice can be constipating, although i'd always heard the opposite.

good luck!

I have a daughter who goes thru the same thing, and my doctor has told me to use mineral oil, which is sold in any pharmacy. You give her one teaspoon, increasing it one teaspoon, every few days, until you see oil in her poop, then you cut back one teaspoon. It works wonders. Also, I have read that if they dont drink enough fluids they get constipated too. My daughter drinks all the time, so I know this isnt her problem, but my 1 yr old doesnt always drink as much as she should and she will go a day or two without pooping. I hope some of this helps, good luck!

Apple juice, prune juice, pears, grape juice, and any kind of fresh fruit works pretty much. If your child will eat plums that really worked for my daughter.
