Cloth Diapers - Colorado Springs,CO

I use fuzzy buns, bumgenious, and regular. Now I hate pins but we have these T-shapped rubber jobs that you use instead of pins on the cloth diapers. I fold the diaper in three long way, then in half. When I use them I take one out, open it long way and pull the two corners out and set the little guys hiney in it and just pull the diaper up through his legs. Now when I was young and babysat for an asian lady she laid the diaper open, put the baby on it - and pulled the "front" up through the legs and twisted it over which held in the little boy parts nicely. It is hard to explain, but you'll find a groove. I mainly use my cheap pre-folded gerber diapers for home and his two expensive diapers for going out. I love using cloth and use a wide variety for different situations. Try the diapering forums on www.mothering.com and www.babycottonbottoms.com and the www.diaperpin.com. And use a snappi instead of pins. www.diaperswappers.com is a great used diaper source and Babycottonbottoms has a bargain basement for buying used.

There was just another post not to long ago about cloth so I would take a peek at what others had to say… I can tell you that we use Fuzzi Bunz and LOVE them!!! There is no need for rinsing them out or using a “wet pail” you just toss them in the washer and either line dry or when it is to cold toss them in the dryer! No pins, they use snaps and will fit a wide range of weights. My son is two and we had to exchange the bunz 3 times in all. There is a great site called cotton babies that you buy into a program called growing up in diapers which allows you to buy what you need and when the kid grows you buy the next size and send back the clean old ones and you get just about half your money back.. They have a lot of other cloth diapers. Best advise, try a few different ones to see which fits best but we are noticing that a lot of people love the fuzzi bunz! Hi there! I am a HUGE fan of the BumGenius cloth diapers. You can find them on www.cottonbabies.com They are so easy- you put them on just as easily as disposables. I absolutely love these diapers! And since stains can be a problem for some people, I use Shaklees laundry detergent. IT is a totally safe for you, your baby and the planet product- and it works the first time in getting any stains out. Not only is it a planet and family safe product, it is cheaper than the conventional products you find at the store. The diapers now don't need any folding or pins. Try www.rumparooz.com. Their closures are velcro or snaps and they even have a new OneSize diaper that will last the entire time your baby is in diaperes - no need to buy different sizes (an even bigger money savings)! They have really cute designs and colors to choose from too! They are made locally here in Colorado. They're completely customizable - choose the design, fabric (poly, flannel, wool, hemp, bamboo, soy), color, print, closure, even the gussets. The woman who makes them just moved into a new house, plus her mother just passed away so you may not be able to get a hold of her right away. But she will get back to you soon.

We have been using Fuzzi Bunz with our now 8mth old son and we love them! They are very easy and no pins! Check out their website www.fuzzibunz.com or google them, there are quite a few links. They are adjustable so that you shouldn't need to buy different sizes. We used disposibles the first two months as we heard that the fit isn't great when they are that small and we have been happy with the fit from that point on. One thing we've been doing is line drying them in the sun as this seems to be the most effective way of removing any stains. I hope this helps. : )

I have also used cloth diapers to save money. At fist I used snaps and I find that they did not do a good job. I too was intimidated by the pins for fear of sticking the baby. But before long you get use to it. Just handle it with care. It is amazing the things we are fearful about but after a few time of doing it all these fears will be erased and you will be wondering why were yo u so fearful. From my experience the pins were safe and the baby was not even aware of it being there.

I was the oldest of 5 children. We were very low income. My mom used cloth diapers for all of us, except the youngest. I got the priviledge :) of changing these diapers. I am not sure what kind of new "inventions" they have nowadays. I can tell you what we did.

WE rinsed out the dirty diapers in the toilet and then put them in a seperate hamper with a lid on it. We used the safety pins with the safety clasp on the end to protect the baby. We also made sure that we put the safety pin away from the baby and towards us so that we wouldn't stick the baby.

Also, I know there are some places that do the laundry for you. I am not sure of their names, but they are availbe. I don't know how much they cost. However, if you are trying to save money, it may be too expensive.

I have used prefold diapers put inside a velcro cover. It worked quite well. I have several different brands of covers. Dappi was probably the best.

Good for you! I wish more people would do this. It helps your pocketbook and the environment. We have a cloth diaper service out of Boulder which I highly recommend www.thechangingtable.net
but if you are determined to wash them yourself, you can buy these wonderful inexpensive wraps in a variety of sizes- we stocked up on the plain-jane Proraps from JardineDiapers.com and they work great. Soft velcro, no pins.
Some people love FuzziBunz and other brand names, but from I understand you have to use their cloth diapers too otherwise they don't work.
