Christmas Cookie Question

I'm giving cookies as a gift to a number of people this year (daycare girls, friends, etc..) and I found the perfect gift bags to put them in at Target. However, I'm having a hard time coming up with a way to wrap them. They are different shapes and sizes (cut-outs, sandwich, kisses, etc..), so I want to wrap each kind individually. I have consider using a small square of tissue paper to wrap them up in, but I'm afraid that the cookies may "bleed" through the bottom or sides.

Has anyone done this in the past and have a good solution for wrapping the cookies? Thanks so much for your help!

What can I do next?

You might want to try wax paper or parchment paper. I know this wouldn't be very decorative but if you are putting the cookies in gift bags i don't think it would be that much of a difference.

Around the holidays, you can buy colored Saran Wrap. I think you can even get printed Saran Wrap, like snowflakes or something. I've always used that.

Yumm!

I use clear cellophane bags (from Michael's or AC Moore) then tie them with red and green ribbon.

Happy packaging.

Perhaps you could wrap them in parchment paper, plastic wrap or wax paper.

Not knowing how big the cookies are or how big the bags are I don't know if this next idea is do-able. You could stack some of the cookies in paper or plastic cups, arrange the cups in a circle on a plate and have the cut out cookies in the middle of the circle. Put the arrangement in the gift bag. You could put one type of cookie in each cup or layer different varieties in each cup putting the heavier ones on the bottom, lighter ones on the top and the kisses on the very top.

I do this every year with pizelle, which are fragile cookies. I use cellophane which is sturdier than simple plastic wrap. It's also thicker and so holds it's shape when you wrap things, and will cushion the cookies a bit in bags or tins. Tie each cookie bundle with a bow and it looks so pretty! Cellophane comes in different colors, too. I can usually find it with any other wrapping papers, but if you have a hard time finding it, you can check with a florist. They use cellophane all the time to wrap flower arrangements.

hey there,
I put mine in wax paper bags.. sometimes they are hard to find so i make the "bag" myself to fit the cookie ( only takes a minute or so) and then place them in the gift bag.

hope it helps!!

Yesterday when I was at Micheals craft store, I bought my kids a Christmas chocolate making kit. We are going to "try" to make them look like the picture. Anyway the had small little clear cellophane bags with the little stickers that you seal them with. They could fit a cookie or so in them. I think the bags were to wrap the chocolates in, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for cookies. I believe they were $4.99 a bag for 100 of them. They were in the candy and cake making aisle. We are giving cookies and candies as gifts as well. I am planning to give less cookies and make the jars filled the the dry ingrediants. I found the cutiest little kitchen towels that come with a cookie cutter and the cookie recipie written on the towel. Happy Holidays. www.livegreeneasy.com

Either use the colored or patterned plastic wrap already suggested, or use plain as an inner layer with your tissue paper on the outside.

I would suggest using cellophane and either ribbon or twist ties to seal them. You can put the alike cookies together, stacked up on a square of cellophane, pull up the edges, and twist tie. They look very festive, cellophane comes in lots of designs and colors, and not only does it keep the cookies fresh, but it doesn't leak through.

You could either buy tins to put them in, or put them on plates with colored saran wrap.

I saw some great options at Michaels (the craft store) I saw that Martha Stuart actually made up kits to make your own cookie boxes, I also saw lots of take out boxes in decorative colors, like you would get rice in from a Chinese restaurant, and loads of other stuff, like tins & what not. Id say take a trip down to Michaels. I'm doing the same thing for the holidays! And you know might as well check out bridal favors too, I saw some at Walmart in the craft section.
