Child Seat Inspections

I need to find a place that does carseat inspections. I called St Joe's and they don't have anything available until Sept 25th and I called the FHP guy, but he takes so long to call back (we've been playing phone tag now for 2 weeks). Every day that goes by is another day my little girl isn't as safe as she could be in her new carseat.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I contacted the AAA office on Westshore and just waiting for a callback on that one. I know everything that was stated to me on safety issues, my issue is more that I can't get my seat tight enough, no matter how much I push, pull, sit on it, etc... it just jiggles too much for comfort. Her infant carrier didn't budge so this movement is way too loose for me.

Try AAA on Westshore. They were great before my son was born.

Fire stations are not always the best place to go. They may know no more than you do about car seat safety. Your best bet is to find a CPS tech in the area. The one listed on the CPS site is Peggy Cottrell. Here's her info:

Also, check here from the NHTSA site: http://www.seatcheck.org/

Some tips: of course your dd must be Rear Facing until a MINIMUM of 1 year AND 20lbs but it's safest to leave her RF to the limits of the carseat. That's usually 33-35lbs. Her harness needs to be at or below her shoulders and the chest clip should sit at armpit level. The harness should be tight enough on her that you can't pinch the harness.

For the install, your seat should be at about a 45 degree angle. It may sit slightly more upright as your dd is 6mo old. Your seat should not move more than 1 inch from side to side if it's in tight no matter the install method.

I hope that helps!! Feel free to email me if you have more questions.
