hi all,
i was planning to put my three-month-old in 40-hour-a-week daycare when i go back to work in july, but now that she's here i can't bear the thought of being away from her for that long, at least in the beginning.
i'm working with my bosses to possibly work four or maybe even three days a week, as is my husband, so now we're looking for infant care for two or three days a week, at least for three months.
since most day cares don't seem to do a la carte days, i'm looking for alternatives.
wanted to tap into the collective wisdom here -- what has worked for others? anyone know a great nanny? baby-sitting co-op? agency? family day care?
we live on the near southside, just south of king william/lavaca, and i work downtown.
thanks in advance,
T.

I have been looking for a day care or alternative as well...(but only for saturdays)...In my research, I came across this child care center on 281 and Bitters. it's called Kidcare Drop Ins. Now I've never used them myself (yet) but just thougt you might like to check them out. Their number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps...

Many places will let you "split" tuition with another kid who wants to go on the alternate days. So yours goes on mon,wed and fri and the other on Tues and Thurs. this way no one misses out on the money, and they can accommodate you. There is a little church school in my neighborhood that my friend brings her infant to, and they adore it. I even went one day to check it out, and it's very sweet. It's near Woodridge Elementary school and kind of near to the intersection of Northridge st. and Kenilworth , i think. It's a brick building.

T.,

Finding daycare or childcare in san antonio is suprisingly difficult. I am also a new mother with an 11 month daughter. I was fortunate enough that my boss provided a nanny for me, but now she has adopted a newborn and her nine month old sister and she wants the nanny to focus on her new children. So I am currently looking for childcare and it's scary and expensive. What I have found is for someone to care for a child in your home is about $350, for an au pair its $15,000+, and for daycare its less but who knows what goes on there because there are so many kids. I saw that you mentioned baby sitting co-op and this is something i haven't thought of; other than telling my friend to hurry up and have a baby so we can share a nanny. I live in the Monticello Historic Area not to far from Wood Lawn Lake. Email me if you are interested in this as a possible option (____@____.com).
