Chicago Elementary Schools
Ladies,
Please tell me a few of the best elementary schools in Chicago? I am looking for neighborhoods to move into but the biggest concern is a good school, so I am starting there first. And yes I have looked at the test scores of many CPS schools but I believe there is more to a school than test scores. Thank you in advance.

There are so many good CPS schools to choose from! My kids go to Blaine and we have been happy. Most of the schools have school tours at least once a month. Just call each school to get their schedule. I agree that there is more to a school than test scores. Just be sure to look for improving test scores. If you don't live in the neighborhood, you can still apply through their options program but the deadline for applications is December for the following year.
Some neighborhood schools to check out...Blaine, Bell, Burley, Alcott, Waters, Nettlehorst
Good luck!

Hi R.,
In my opinion, the best neighborhood schools in Chicago are Bell (in St Bens) Lincoln (in Lincoln Park) Blaine and Burley (in West Lakeview). The nice thing about moving to a neighborhood with a good school (vs applying and hoping to get in from outside of the area) is that you will live in the same area as your children's classmates. There's a lot to be said for that. It sure makes playdates easier.
I've been a realtor in Chicago for 22 years, let me know if you are looking for an agent as well. Check out my website. MyChicago.Listingbook.com you can search the mls just like the Realtors do. All of the information comes from our MLS.
I'm also running a promotion now where I will pay for a buyer's move. I can give you the details if you're interested.
All the best to you and your family.

Ray (Hyde Park) Lincoln and Ogden are also great neighborhood schools. However you can apply to almost any school and you have to apply to the magnets. Most of them are very good - LaSalle and Franklin are just 2 of the great magnets in my neighborhood

The CPS schools on the northwest side are very good as well - Oriole Park, Edison Park, etc. Good luck with your neighborhood search!
