We are going to Disney for the first time and need a cheap room to stay at that's close. This is our first trip there, so I want to save money on the room so we can spend it at Disney. Anyone return to a place that they'd recommend?

What can I do next?

Have you priced a Value Resort on Disney property? The benefits of staying on property are tremendous. Disney's magical express from the airport, shuttle to resorts, extended park hours, etc etc. Go to the web site and price it and then call to talk to a representative. Seriously , you won't need to rent a car and save yourself alot of headaches. Lots of good deals right now. Have a great trip!

There are tons and tons of cheap hotels in Orlando...you can pretty much drive around for 20 min and find a great deal...that's what we've always done when vacationing there. As for the quality of the room, you can always ask to take a peek of the room before you book.

Whatever you, don't stay at that Ramada Inn directly across from the park , it's dirty and VERY high trafficked... I just don't think unless they've overhauled it lately, they do very much to keep up the place. However, we did stay about 10 min from the maingate over at the Alpine Inn. It was at the time about 60 night. Was clean (As these places go) and the front desk staff was very nice. Mostly, I was happy that it was so much cleaner (and quiet) than those hotels directly across from the park, Also, IF you do decide to eat prior to going into the park, like say at the Denny's across the way, you'll want to beat the crowd and get there by about 6:30am maybe 7 at the latest. IF you wait until too late, the line is very long.
Of course, if you can, it might be a good idea to pack some snacks, this way you don't try and find places to eat right away.
Have fun!!

I would also suggest looking into Disney's Value Resorts. Have you checked out the Disney Mom's Panel?(http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.com/home.aspx?CMP=OTC-D.... This will provide you with a ton of useful information on various Disneyworld related topics and being your first visit, you'll find some helpful tips as well. Check it out! Have a great trip!
