How long can I keep the stored milk?

Amazingly, research has found that human milk stored in the refrigerator for eight days actually has lower bacterial levels than freshly expressed milk. For more details on recommended storage times, see Storage Times for Human Milk.

Since human milk can be kept in the refrigerator for up to eight days, it may be possible to provide your baby with fresh, not frozen, milk most of the time. This insures that your baby gets the maximum amount of nutrients and immunities. Instruct your caregiver to use the oldest milk first and keep the supply rotating.

Previously frozen milk can be kept in the refrigerator for 24 hours after thawing. This means that you or the baby's caregiver can thaw milk for all of your baby's feedings at one time, or you can thaw the milk in the refrigerator overnight. This can make it faster to prepare a bottle when your baby is hungry. Milk that has thawed should not be refrozen.

Absolutely you can freeze it after just a few days in the fridge.

It can remain in the fridge for 8 days (some sources say 10 days) before it is used or frozen.

If you know you will use all four bottles of milk by the eight day mark, just leave them in the fridge. Otherwise, freeze away!

According to Medela, it can stay in the fridge for 8 days. So just save it until Monday!

I read somewhere once that breastmilk is good in the fridge up to 8 days and they went on to say that it was ok to freeze it anytime with in those 8 days. I can't seem to locate the article now. But another one I found said to freeze within 48 hours. http://www.parenttime.com/breastfeeding/storing-breastmil.... Sounds like you are still within the window. In the end, it's really whatt you are comfortable with.

I may be wrong, but I thought the rule of thumb with breast milk was to use or freeze within 24 hrs. If it were me, I wouldn't use it.
