Calling Crafty Moms!! I Need Help on My Idea... Bday Gift

Thank you for reading and helping.

I am working on a birthday gift and plan to use some sort of small box or earthy type container to hold slips of paper which will each have reasons of Why I Love You. It sounds simple enough but I am having trouble coming up with what type of paper, ribbon or what to write the reasons on. I have assorted colored Sharpies that work well for the ink.

My plan is to present the container, as small as possible. A card or first paper in it which is slightly larger will have Happy Birthday. Here are ____ reasons I love you.

Do you use different colors and types of lightweight paper? I'm thinking ink will run on ribbon so that is a no go, Would you use cardstock?

OR.... would you get a small journal (I haven't found one with less that 192 pages and I don't need more than 60) and write a reason on each page?

I love my idea and I have shared it with others before but I am stumped on my presentation.

Thank you for your help!!

What can I do next?

I would probably do strips of cardstock all different colors, but matching the color scheme of the box, cut with different types of scissors (zig-zag, wavy, etc). You could then fan-fold the strips so they would take up a little more room in the box, instead of just sitting on the bottom of the box.

Great gift idea!

I would get tags like this, maybe tea stain them (easy to do, tons of how tos online). You can tie them really pretty or put them in a little box, it is perfectly sentimental and still earthy in nature, and they display very pretty:

You can buy them online or buy them at places like Joanns/Hobby Lobby/ Micheals

For the jar: I would use cardstock for the reasons. It is a strong paper and won't tear as easily.

For the journal: In the scrapbook area of most stores they have little scrapbooks that have on average 10 page protectors, giving you 20 pages to write on. I made one for my husband and put pictures in there along with reasons why I loved him and different memories of our first 5 years of marriage. You easily can just make each page a reason why you love them.

Have fun making the gift.

I think I might steal the idea of doing it on a journal. Reasons I love you and add in there drawings, sayings and pictures. Give her some space to add some stuff maybe.

Thanks!

You should go to the craft store and get scrap booking paper. They have tons and tons of different colors, styles, and prints. Plus stickers etc.

You can get scissors that cut different shapes and then make your own book if thats what you want or just keep the paper individual.

You can add decorations to it, gluing other different shapes on it.

You can get glitter glue, or cool pens that wont bleed.

The possibilities are endless!

Use a journal.
Write things on the pages.
Then on the other pages, put PHOTOS of 'why' you love that person. That is an idea also.

You also do not have to fill up each page.
They can write in it also.
Things they like about themselves and affirmations etc.

You might want to make a book – there are several different ways to bind pages or simply fold them together. Watch these YouTube videos:

Folded book:

Squash book:

Stitched book:

There are other videos that will come up with additional ideas.

Have fun!

I love this ladies blog. Scroll down in the Thanksgiving ideas and you will see a frame with twine that is weaved through it. They are using it for messages of what you are thankful for Thanksgiving but you should clip the messages onto the twine and it would be so cute!! I'm planning on doing something like this with our Christmas cards.

I like the tags mommaL posted from etsy. You could also get a bunch of tags like that a bind them with twine or a metal brad - then write your sediments on each one.
