I found a Bunk Bed for my son that has a playscape at the bottom and a slide to slide down in the morning. He already saw a picture of it and is excited about it. My question is if there are more down sides to a bunk bed then I think. Would you recomend them or not and why?

What can I do next?

I have triplets (2 boys and a girl) who are 5 1/2 and a 16 yr old daughter. I have had the triplets in a bunk bed since they were 3 yrs old. We have never had any accidents or problems with anyone getting hurt. I think they are a good idea. The boys have a loft bed and a twin underneith and the girls have an A frame with the bottom being a full sized for my teenager and the top being a twin for my 5 yr old. I am sure he will love it. I was nervous when I first switched them as well.

HI, We had bunk beds for our older children. I guess It depends on how daring your child is. I was watching a 21/2 year old over night. (his parents had just had a funeral for their infant son) and their 21/2 year old climbed on the boys bed and tried to jump to their dresser. He broke his arm and I had to go wake his parents up to go to the emergency room.
You would have to watch company really well.

Hi C.,
I don't have bunk beds yet but are planning to get them when my youngest is out of the crib. He will share a room with my older son. I don't have any hesitations, I think it will be good for them to share a room. Good luck.
Chris

We recently got a bunk bed for our almost 7 year old because our youngest will also be her room once she is out of the crib. Right now it is a loft (Until we add the bottom bunk.) The only problems we have had have been that she sometimes wakes up in the night to go to the bathroom. Because she has to climb down, she has had accidents at the bottom of the stairs because it takes her too long to get out of bed and into the bathroom. The other difficulty has been if she falls asleep somewhere else. She is a very hard sleeper and it is very difficult to lift a 7 year old up into a bed. :)

We haven't regretted getting the bunk though. She loves it! Those are just things that I didn't even consider when we bought it.
