Bored at Home? Need Some Social Interaction? Me Too!! Lets Make It Happen!

Well I officially am sick of sitting around with nothing to do! My daughter is 13 months old and we need some more social interaction. I have met many people who mention playgroups they want to start or tell me how bored they are at home, etc., but no one does anything about it! So I am going to!

I am interested in setting up a casual playgroup with anyone with situations similar to mine, or anyone who just wants to get out of the house!

We take the kids to the parks, walk the beaches ( or hit the beach in the summer!), visit Frank's Farm in Jacksonville in the springtime so the kids can pet the baby animals, etc. Any good ideas? Let me know!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the great Advice! I used meetup.com back when I was living at home in CT, and it just never dawned on me to try that again here in NC!

hi L., i have a lovely grand gaughter in law who lives in jacksonville. she is 27 yrs old and has two children ali and isaiah. her name is tina brackett. my grandson recently was sent to california, on his way to iraq. ugh. he has been in the marines for 9 years. they are divorced but she likes that area. tina would be a good friend to have. thank you, D.

Check out www.themommiesnetwork.com They have a list of mom groups in NC and other states that have playdates, Mom's Night Out/In, family events, and lots of support groups.

I too want to suggest meetup.com. I am an organizer of a meetup group at Ft Bragg and I love my group and my ladies! We're all military, so we have so much in common, and are a great support group when husbands deploy.

Hi L.,
I wanted to tell you about a couple of groups that we have available locally. MOMS Club of Marietta is a social group that plans an activity calendar each month. We normally have 2 activities per week which could range from park days to trips to the Firestation. MOMS Club has meeting on the 3rd Monday of each month at the 1st Presbytertian Church on 4th St in Marietta at 10:00 a.m. That would be a good opportuntity for you to get more info.
The other group is called MOPS (mothers of preschoolers). This group is a support group for moms that meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Marietta First Church of the Nazerene on Colegate Dr. at 9:15. This is more of a discussion group for moms and is a time for adult social interaction. We provide childcare during the meeting in the church nursery. If you are interested in either of these groups I would be happy to share more info with you. There is also library story times, Out and About Kids, Party Hoppers at the mall, Kindermusik classes, and always seems to be events going on around the area. Lots to do if you want to get involved.
I'm not sure of where you live, but all these things are available in Parkersburg/Vienna area also if that is more convenient.

hey girl! i get the bored thing alot too...i'll be home in maysville at the end of april. id love to have jordan be around other kids and id love to be around another female. i love my marines but sometimes a girl just needs time with other girls

Check out the website for Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS). They have groups all over the country that offer wonderful social interaction for moms and children. They've been a life saver to me when I've gone nuts at home!

You should goto MOMSCLUB.ORG and see if there is a MOMS Club in your area - it has been great for me and my daughter!!

Head to Wilmington occasionally! The city has a great young kids gym (3yo and younger) where you can meet other moms and let your daughter play in a age appropriate environment. It is only $4! Called Fit for Fun on 10th street.
