Birthday Party Ideas for 7 and 1 Year Olds on Same Day

I know it's almost weird to have a party that is for both 7 and 1 year old boys. I have always found it hard to think of birthday party ideas for my kids alone, but to add another is making it more complex this year. My son is turning 7 and the son of close friends of ours is turning 1. They have the same birthdays. These friends of ours have only been in the area for a 1 year, moving from CA last year. We were friends before they moved here and we are basically their only (or very few) friends and "family" in the area. So, they asked if we were going to do anything for our son this year and if so, can they do it together with us for their son turning 1. I know what its like not to know many people since we were in the same situation when we moved from CA to here 5 years ago. So, I said sure we can do it together. Now, I am struggling on finding a good party location because of the big age difference. I am not one to throw birthday parties at home and neither are they. We are thinking of Richardson, Plano, Carollton, and North Dallas area. Most of the invitees will be in my son's age range with a few 3-5 years old. Any advice on what I should do?

Thanks so much!

Going Bonkers, Lewisville. Perfect! You can have a huge party with guests or just all go as a regular guest, not pay the party packages. This is great for the 3-5 to 7 years of age group AND there's a smaller area for the 0-3yrs kiddos! Have Fun!

My friend had a pool party for her 7 year old daughter and 1 year old son. That worked nicely. The kids all had fun, the baby was able to splash in the shallow area while the bigger kids were able to go into the deeper water. They used the public pool located in Grapevine on Hall Johnson Rd. called Glade Pool, but I would assume there is one close to you as well. It wasn't very expensive and everyone had a good time.

Boomerangs is a another great mulit-age place to go. They have bounce houses/slides for the older ones, a small toddler bounce, and a non-bounce toddler area. It's a somewhat small venue so keeping eveyone together is a little easier for visiting and such for adults. They have party rooms and reasonable package prices also. Call ahead though, the one in Hurst is now only open weekends, if that.

How about a Pool/splash party? Rosemeade Rec Center has a great Rainforest Splash area and all the other pools as well. Enough to keep you 7 year olds busy as well as the toddlers and one year old. I think if you don't want a party during regular hous you can even rent the pool out during the early morning or early evening after it normally closes. Or Going Bonkers indoor Play Zone with a seperate Toddler area it would be a great place to go as well. It is in Lewisville by Vista Ridge Mall. Good Luck!!

I would suggest bowling , if there is an appropriate place for the younger ones , I had a birthday there for a 4 yr old and we had a blast , with different aged children . We brought our own pizza etc . Affordable and fun . With no clean up at home .

Don't know how soon you are planning this (because of the heat right now), but what about a picnic or cook out at a park? You could have Pizza delivered or you could cook hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. The older kids can play at the playground or you could have croquet or volleyball or other games played on the grass while the littler ones can play on blankets or their age appropriate outdoor games. You could do relay races for the older kids, too.

I think this will also give your friends from California the chance to visit and get to know the other adults in the area. Have fun!

I have an 8 year old and triplet 3 year olds. We did a swim party for my 8 year old daughter and her brothers went and everyone had fun!

Another option is Pump it Up. You might be able to designate certain activities for younger kids and the rest for older kids.

Good Luck.
