Lake Tawkawani- it's not really in Forth Worth- actually about 1 1/2 hrs east of Midlothian but it has the best lake for swimming(in my opinion) that we have been to so far. It has a nice, natural sandy bottom that is about 2 ft deep for quite a while and gradually gets deeper. There are tons of trees around and the drive there is really pretty. It's a state park so you can look it up to get directions. Some others closer: Lake Mineral Wells- that one was fun, but it is really small and the water isn't quite as clean(mainly from a marshy bottom) but it is a no wake lake because it's so small.
There is also a nice spot to swim at the Cedar Hills park lake(joe pool lake) I have only been to the part inside the state park, but it is nice. You will have to wear water shoes though. They have brought in gravel for the shore and it hurts your feet after awhile.
Have fun!

I think Joe Pool Lynn Creek is fantastic. Beach is sandy, great playground for kids near the water.

Have u tried lake roberts I always like going there. it has a park like a beach and its pretty nice to do a cookout too.

Their season is about to end, but Burger Lake in Ft. Worth is amazing. It costs to get in, so make a day of it.

Hello if your just looking to go for a day and not camping may I suggest the beach in Granbury. We spent alot of time there over the summer..Its free has plenty of shade areas and also a nice lake to swim in with sand to build sand castles. Its just past downtown near the Hilton hotel you will enjoy it

Hi H.,

Burgers Lake in west Ft Worth is the best lake for swimming. Lots of trees, sandy bottom throughout the lake and around the lake. Costs $12.00 per adult and $6.00 for kids. It is well worth the price.

Joe Pool - Lynn Creek Park has a good beach.
