Best Inexpensive High Chairs and Car Seats

Hi,

Does anyone know what high chairs are the best quality for the lowest price? We ae stuck this month buying a new high chair AND car seat and are trying to find the most affordable ones.

Also if anyone is selling a car seat (not infant) or high chair, I'm interested.

Thanks all! ;-)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Well, thanks to all your great advice I chose not to buy something used. We ended up getting the Evenflo Triumph car seat and the Cosco highchair from Target. They both are awesome buys and very affordable too. Thanks again all! ;-)

We love, love, love the Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster Seat.

Around $23 on Amazon. We used it for our little girl from 5 months until just recently and she is now 2 1/2. She still uses it, but would rather sit in a "big chair." It has no grooves for food to get stuck in and is totally portable. We don't have much extra storage space so this was perfect instead of a traditional high chair.

Good luck!

Hi M.,
I recently purchased the Fisher Price Spacesaver high chair for $49 ($43 after coupon at BabiesRUs) and it is wonderful! It reclines for newer infants, sits straight up for infants, and then turns into a booster seat down the road. My friend has a 3 year old and still uses the booster seat for her little boy to sit at the table. For the price I think its really great.

Please don't buy a used carseat, you don't know the history of it, its just much safer to buy a new seat.

Do NOT buy a Graco convertible carseat. They have a bad reputation in the car seat technician community because most kids grow out of them incredibly early because the harness heights are so low. Don't buy a Cosco/Dorel/Safety 1st 3-in-1 seat either (also called Alpha Omega) they are a pain in the butt to install and really aren't worth the money.

What kind of budget do you have for a carseat? Walmart, Target and Babies R Us sell a convertible seat called the "Evenflo Triumph Advance" that runs about $120, and it rear faces to 35lbs (a big plus!) and forward faces to 50lbs (10lbs more than most other carseats on the market, except for Britax seats) Its nice and cushy, pretty easy to install, and easy to adjust!

If that is too much, then I would look at getting a Cosco Scenara ($40-55 at Walmart) it rear faces to 35lbs and forward faces to 40lbs. This seat is a great option because it is cheap (and you can buy one for each car!) and will keep him rear facing much longer than some of the other seats on the market. It can be kinda funky to install though, and isn't nearly as cushy and plush as some of the other car seats out there. The scenera is a bare minimum seat, but it gets the job done! My two year old niece is riding rear facing in her scenera and has no problems with it!

(Just fyi, rear facing is safest, it is recommended that you wait until they hit the maximum weight limit of the seat before you turn them around forward facing)

If you want any help picking out a car seat or installing it, just send me a message! I live in Las Colinas and would be more than willing to help you out in any way that I can!
