Best Birth Control
Hi Moms,
My annual appointment is coming up 1 yr after my daughter was born. I am done nursing her and now when I go back to my dr, I want to get on some form of birth control but not sure which/what type. I do now I will not go on the pill. For me it causes me to gain weight, which I struggle with anyway. (I know people, doctors mainly, say it doesn't cause weight gain but the two times I've been on it I have gained weight, more than 5 lbs.)
Anyway, I'm not ready to get my tubes tied but I really don't want another baby anytime soon! So other than the pill, what do you use that you are happy with that has little to no side effects? And has little chance of getting pregnant!
Thanks,
M. D.

HI M.,
SAME PROBLEM:) I have 2 kiddos, but I am not ready to have mt tubes yet. I go in to the office next week to have the Menerma IUC inserted. I do not like the ideas of IUD, BUT this is new, and different. Its 5 years of BC. (or less if you want) I'll let you know how it goes:) E-mail me- ____@____.com. I had problems with the ring, and Patch, so this is my last chance:(

I have found the best birth control to be two sets of twins under four. Pretty much we have no time, energy, or desire to do anything that might create a third set...(smile).

The ONLY birth control that I will ever use again is the Nuva Ring. Very easy and you NEVER have to remember to take it only when it's time to switch it out. I myself had problems with other BC , weight gain, mood swings, etc. I never once had any problems with the Nuva Ring. That's my opinion:)
Good Luck

I had some really ugly side effects with the Mirena. I have since talked to several other people who had similar reactions. Be very careful - there is actually a class action lawsuit going on right now because of the severity of the side effects. It can cause weight gain, acne, stroke, SEVERE depression, migraines, etc. I would seriously look at some other form of birth control.

I second the Merena IUD.

The Mirena IUD is awesome! No pills, no shots, no condoms! It's good for 5 years. I love mine!

I think the Mirena, looking at the research is the best, and good news for you breastfeeding moms it has such a low dose because it is continuous, progestin only that you can even breastfeed with it and have many fewer side effects than the estrogen pills(which you can't breastfeed with).
