Baby Wearing - Lees Summit,MO

Is there a baby wrap like the Moby that you just put over you and put baby in without having to tie it? All the wraps I've seen are so complicated and it seems to be too much trouble to do errands while wearing baby if getting in and out of car and having to take out of carseat and put in wrap.

What do other baby wearers do?

What can I do next?

I loved the Moby. I would tie it on before I left and just pop the baby in and out when we were running errands. You can tighten it a bit, but I never really needed to after I got it set before we started the errands.

I have a maya wrap (www.mayawrap.com) and LOVE it.
There's 6 different holds you can use, and it will support your kids up to 35 lbs. So I even carry my 2.5yo with it on my hip.

It comes with an instructional DVD for how to use it with each hold.

I use a minkee-lined BabyHawk with cherry red minkee (super soft) on the inside and sugar skulls on the outside. Killer colors and super comfy. Designed from birth to 40 lbs. I did also love my Moby though :)

I used my Moby last winter with my daughter and I love it! It was so easy once I got the hang of it. Like Kerri C said, I'd put it on before I left the house. I just left it on. I would pull the baby out of her carrier, put her in the Moby and we were off! After awhile I got really fast at sticking her in the Moby. I don't wear coats, so the extra material helped keep me (and her) warm. Wraps do take a little practice to be able to use them comfortably, but so do slings. Any type of carrier is going to take practice. I know lots of moms love ring slings, but I just never cared for them.

Like the others, I too would wrap up in the Sleepy Wrap before I left the house. It is super easy after to do after the first attempt. The Sleepy Wrap is very much like the Moby but its material has some stretch and seems to be a bit easier for beginners to use -- no guessing about how much space to leave for baby... I loved using it with my newborn. When she was about 2 months old she started really preferring the Ergo baby carrier with infant insert. We still use it now (without the insert) at the grocery store, mall, at grandma's, restaurants...she's 7 months old. I used th Ergo a bit with my first but soo much now with my second because I need my hands free to take care of my 3 year old. We also have a Bjorn but that isn't really comfortable for me or my daughter. Hope that helps.

I have a maya wrap that just slings over, but honestly I'm on baby carrier #6 and I've settled on Ergo baby.

I loved my ring sling. It does take a little practice and getting used to, but it's nice because you can keep adjusting it to carry your little ones up to 2 years.

The Baby K'tan is very similar to the Moby, but you just slip it over your head. Its 2 loops, and has the same kind of fabric. They sell them at the Shawnee Mission Med Center Mommy and Me store.

I had a Peanut Shell with both my babies and loved it! I bought it at Nordstroms and it slips over your head. I used it with my first when I was out shopping and didn't want a stroller, or I wore it around the house to settle her and do house work. With my second it was a life saver and I wore my son it in all the time. I could do anything with my daughter unless he was in there! He was in it all the time but didn't have any trouble adjusting to sleeping flat. Whenever we were home and it was him nap time he was in his bed, but between times or off times he was in the sling. It was wonderful!

Yes, but can't think of the name of it. What you are talking about is actually more of a baby "sling". I had one and LOVED it! It made me really nervous at first, but it let me snuggle my bug and nurse him (if needed) with a hand or 2 free!

I have a maya wrap as well. It worked pretty well but it takes a while, at least for me, to get the hang of it. I always felt it was safe though and liked it.
