"Baby Wash Versus Regular Soap"

I've used California Baby Tea Tree & Lavender Shampoo and Wash since my DD was born. I also use it for myself so needless to say, we will be using it for a while =)

I still use baby wash on my soon to be 6 year old, but I have 2 other children that are younger so I think that may have prolonged this routine. I use Suave kids shampoo for their hair though. I plan on switching my 2 older ones (6 and 4) to Suave Kids body wash next time I need to buy soap, but it is hard to give up that sweet smelling baby scent!

we never used baby wash, its full of nitrates and perfumes and is very harsh on skin. Its marketed for that 'baby smell', but its full of junk!

We use www.realsimplesoap.com and love her stuff! We've also used Burts Bees baby bee wash, and Method baby Squeaky Green wash.

My son is 28 months and I still use it. I think I will continue until "tear free" is no longer needed.

Mine's almost 3 and I'm still using it.

My 4 yr old has very sensitive skin, so I still use it on him.

I used it until my first was 4 or 5 and I still use it with my LO who is not quite 3. I love the baby smell for as long as I can get it!

Baby soaps, especially J&J are very harsh. Try something mild and more natural like Burts Bee or something similar. Look for the ingredients and this will help you choose (no sulfates, parabens, etc). The same thing should apply to you,,don't use harsh soaps and shampoos,,it only make the skin dry.

All free and clear for our clothes, kids' clothes and cloth diapers!

My daughter is 25 months old, and we had to stop using baby wash a few months ago. My daughter was telling me it hurt when she pee'd. So I took her to the doctor, they could not find anything wrong with her (no UTI or anything), so my doctor said it could be the baby wash. It gets in the bath water and can cause irratation "down there" for girls. So we stopped using it, and sure enough no more problems! I don't know if you have a girl or boy, but something to keep in mind :) Good luck to you.

Between the ages of 3-5. My 5.5 year old triplets, two of them still use the shampoo from their heads that we use down their bodies, both boys. The girl is now using bar soap on her body with a puff because she's already getting an occasional BO smell. If they don't have a BO smell yet we don't bother. They just used the shampoo from their hair down their body and are good to go.

I just use the fragrance free version of my favorite detergent for everyone's clothes. But I think 1-2 is a good guideline.

My 8yo still uses it as his soap but uses a different shampoo now. I don't see anything wrong with that. Their bodies aren't producing much skin oil until they go through puberty, so they can use a milder and gentler soap until then.

We don't use soap at all, at our house. Cleansers are so much more gentle on skin, and soap is so harsh.

I use baby wash or tear free shampoo to wash my sons hair.He is now three. I think regular soap is too harsh on the skin. I use body wash on him when I am low on baby wash. I would go with body wash not regular soap and until they are six or seven i would use tear free shampoo or baby wash on the hair.

I used baby wash for my son until he was almost 6. I liked using it as a shampoo.

I use the bottles of Suave, I think it Suave, body wash and shampoo comb now that the kids are over 2 years old. One has a Monkey on the front and it smells like coconut, another is strawberry scented. They are about $3 for the large bottles and under $2 for the smaller ones. They are no more tears but since it has perfumes in it I didn't use it until they were a bit older.

My baby is 21 months old. I switched from using baby wash, to Suave tear free shampoo and just use a lufa. A little goes a long way and she smells like a little coconut. Plus with using the lufa, it creates lots of bubbles in the tub and she loves to play with them. The suave stuff is WAY cheaper too. I still have the other soap just to wash her privates. Since she is a girl and I always had issues with UTI and dont want her to have issues.

My son is 3.5 and I still use baby soaps for him! Honestly, it's more because I also have a 1 year old, so it's easier to just buy one soap for both of them. Plus it smells good. I would say you can use regular soap whenever you're ready, as long as their skin isn't overly sensitive or prone to drying out.
