I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, ONE IS 19 MONTHS OLD, AND THE OTHER IS 6 MONTHS OLD. MY 19 MONTH OLD IS A GREAT SLEEPER, AS WELL IS THE 6 MONTH OLD. JULIA(6 MONTH) GOES DOWN AT 7. SHE WAKES UP ONLY ONCE WHICH IS ANYWHERE FROM 2 OR 3 AM, THAN SHE GOES BACK TO SLEEP UNTIL 7. MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE TWO GIRLS SHARE A ROOM. SOMETIMES WHEN JULIA GETS UP TO EAT, SHE DOES NOT FALL RIGHT BACK ASLEEP. THAT IS WHEN I PUT HER IN THE SWING SO SHE DOES FALL BACK ASLEEP, AND DOES NOT WAKE JILLIAN UP. MY PRBLEM IS THAT I DO NOT WANT TO USE THE SWING FOR SLEEP, BUT HOW CAN I GET HER BACK IN HER BED WITHOUT WAKING UP HER SISTER? I HAVE NOT TIRED JUST PUTTING HER DOWN, I ONLY WILL PUT HER BACK IN THE CRIB IF SHE IS SLEEPING. I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, AND ANOTHER BEDROOM WILL BE BUILT, BUT NOT ANYTIME SOON. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

What can I do next?

I had a similar issue with my two girls. They are 18 months apart. I finally just started laying my second daughter back in her crib, and after the first few nights she didn't even cry anymore. Any her sister slept right through the crying anyway. It is amazing how hard they really sleep when they are young.

I had the same problem with my son. He use to sleep in his swing. The easiest way I broke him from that habit was, when I rocked him, I swung him in my arms. It took awhile *plus gave me a workout*.

Hey there, I also have a boy (who will be six next week), a three year old and one year old girls who share a room. My first suggestion would be to just put her down, see what she does. It might be difficult, especially since she might be used to the swing, but it's worth a shot. Also, how deep of a sleeper is your oldest girl? Maybe if the little one cries a little, it might not be enough to wake the older girl. My kids have shared rooms at one point or another (my son and middle daughter shared a room for a little while, now he has his own room and the girls share a room) and it's a temptation to think about them waking each other up, but so far it's worked out well. My son is a deep sleeper (I mean DEEP, never woke up because his sister was crying in the crib next to him!), and my middle daughter is at an age now that if the baby cries (which thankfully, doesn't happen often anymore!!!)and wakes my older daughter up, I can just talk to her and say "It's okay mama, baby's having trouble, just go back to sleep". Anyway, sorry to blab, hope that helps! Eventually, your youngest won't have that middle of the night feeding and she'll be in her own room, so keep the faith!

Hi J.,

I would try just laying her down. You never know, she may surprise you!!!! A little fussing may occur, but I think all will be fine.

Good Luck

Amanda
