Baby Safety Gates & Humidifier Suggestions

I am looking to get a gate for the top & bottom of our stairs. The top of the stairs are 2 banisters & the bottom is one banister & one wall. Any good ones that you've tried? I am also looking to get a cool mist humidifier for my son's bedroom. Any suggestions? Thank you!

We got the First Years Everywhere Safety Gate too. I like the no climb panels for their function and apprearance vs. a bunch of bars. The handle is nice too, you can use either hand to open it easily.

Hi F.~
I agree with the other posting, first years makes a wonderful gate!! As for a humidifier, I have found much success with the Vicks Cool Mist humidifier. It is a little more expensive, but ours has been running strong for 4 years now. It also has multiple settings for it to run. It is pretty quiet too.

We bought are gates from pamperedpets.com, they offer toppers you can put on the gate to make it taller, (if you have a climber you may need this) It is very sturdy and the kids can not open it. We have walk thru gates and they have lasted several years. Also the gate has kept our Mastiff out of the kitchen.

As far as the baby gates go, the best advice I got was to go to a pet store! They are about half the price of the ones at BRU and Target, but just as sturdy. As my friend said, " if it will hold back a Golden Retriever, it will hold back your baby!" Good luck!

The best gate I ever spent money on is the Retract-a-Gate. Http://www.retract-a-gate.com

It's easily movable, so we can move it from the bottom of the stairs to the top of the stairs. It doesn't swing out (it rolls nice and neat) and looks nice (well, as nice as a gate can look). I cannot recommend this gate enough. It is truly the highest quality, best gate I have ever spent my money on. Ever. We have a banister and we went to the hardware store, bought the fence post thick wood, had it cut to size and then securely strapped those onto the banister and then drilled the hardware into that. We've had no problems in the 4 months we've had it up. It's also located in Galena (or Geneva...something like that) and you get it about 1-2 after your order it. I ordered mine on a Wednesday and I had it on a Friday. Very fast.

For top of the stairs I would recommend Angle-Mount Safeway Gate (Wood or Metal) and I also bought the Gate Installation kit (so you don't have to drill on yur stairs). They sell it at One Step ahead or I believe Babies R Us. Works perfectly and it is very sturdy.

We got the First Years Everywhere Safety Gate too. I like the no climb panels for their function and apprearance vs. a bunch of bars. The handle is nice too, you can use either hand to open it easily.

We got The First Years baby gate. It bolts to the sides and is very, very sturdy. We got it thru another's recommendation.

I'm not sure if it will fit your banisters but at least have a look at them. Babies R Us has a great diverse selection of gates to choose from, but we liked this type the most. Good luck!

This is the baby gate that we have been using the last two years and love it (we use it wall to banister). We bought ours at Target, but this was the easiest link for me to find: http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId...
(you'll have to cut and paste it into your browser). It is VERY sturdy and it looks good too.
