From what I've heard, it's pretty common for babies to do that, especially when they've been sick. Give him time. I'd continue to offer him solids once or twice a day at the usual times, but don't push it. He's getting enough to eat or else he'd be complaining... loudly!

he's getting plenty from breast milk. Kids dont actually NEED anything else for the first year, we're just giving them variety and teaching them how to eat food. As long as he's getting plenty of breast milk (or formula if you were formula feeding) he'll be fine and he'll go back to people food eventually. He probably just remembers that it hurt to eat and doesnt want to do it yet.

This is a reeeeeeally common thing. ESPECIALLY when they're little. He's getting almost no nurtrition from the tablefood... so his body is craving what's easily digestable and what's easy to eat. Expect it to last a few weeks.

Even adults though, when they're sick don't want to eat or want "comfort food". But we ALL crave easily digestible protein & fat rich foods. (Our immune system is predominantly made up of fats/ as are antibodies with just a little protein thrown in for structure. Hence why chicken soup is an illness food. And why we'll have/scarf McDonalds when sick even when nothing else sounds good... fast food is loaded in fats and is almost predigested for us).

Fruits and veggies have none of the nurtients our body needs to fight the infection... but milk has all of them (including the vitamins and minerals that aid it).

You honestly don't need to worry about food intake when a person is ill hardly at all. HYDRATION, yes. Food.. not so much. Our digestive system almost shuts down entirely (it uses a ton of energy that gets shunted to our immune system). So you DO want to give them high fat foods whenever they can be coaxed to eat... but it works out perfectly with babes... since the milk has both the fluid and nutrient content.

maybe the antibiotics have change his taste for the foods. give it some time let the meds run their course and see then if things go back to normal. hope the little guy feels better real soon. gl

At 7 months, all he needs is your breast milk. Babies that age will be very clear about what they need and let you know. So follow his lead on this. Breast milk is the absolute best thing to feed a healing child. When he's ready to eat, he'll be clear about that, too. So nurse and nurse some more to be sure your child recovers from both the sore throat AND the bad effects of antibiotics.

i personally think if a baby is hungry they well let you know. perhaps he still is not feeling well and breast feeding is a form of comfort for him. i too have a 7 month old and he breast feeds maybe twice in the day but have had the hardest time of breaking him of waking up during the night....i might actually post something about that......i know its not cuz he is hungry he just wants to nuzzle a bit then goes back to sleep. what makes you think he isnt getting enough to eat? have you tried formula? when my baby started eating food i put a scoop of formula in his food just to make sure he was getting extra calories and all he needed from the formula.....if you are really concerned though trust your motherly instinct and ask his doc.....good luck doll

Our son was STRICTLY BREASTFED till 9 months. NOTHING else but breast milk. He'll let you know if he needs more. At 9 months we started baby food and then shortly after, table food. BUT there were still days were he would ONLY nurse. Let your baby lead the way.

I really wouldnt worry about it. He probably still is'nt feeling 100% yet and doesnt want the food right now. I would say continue offering the baby food, eventually he will take it, but until then he is getting enough to survive as long as he continues taking in the breast milk. Try not to stress he knows if he's getting enough and I'm sure will be back to normal soon. Good luck
