Baby Balls up in Womb - So Painful!

I'm 36 weeks and my baby keeps balling up in the womb. I know they aren't contractions because usually you can see his or her little butt or back sticking out on one side of my tummy, causing my belly to look very distorted. It causes so much pain and he or she does it soooo often. I feel like I'm in pain all day from this and it is really affecting me. I've tried changing positions and eating or drinking and it doesn't help. Have any of you ever experienced this and is there anything I can do?!

What can I do next?

get down on your hands and knees and arch and contract your back and stomach.... the baby will move to another position. It also sounds like it might be coupled with Braxton Hicks too.... that position relieves lots of pain tho. Use it when you start labor as well.

Yup. This (looks like the movie Alien... doesn't it? Eeeeew)... and the even worse the "full body stretching". My son cracked most of my ribs with his stretching, and broke one with a well aimed kick.

Dancing helped... rocked him to sleep. Of course I was on modified bedrest, so that was something of a no no.. but I did it anyway.

Have you tried laying on the opposite side from the side that's poked out, gravity should help rotate baby the other way.
You could also gently push baby away from the side that hurts.

awwww....sorry, I know you're hurting but i do remember how I felt when I felt my son moving inside of me...how marvelous! I suggest a relaxing music. Any kind (George Michael has some great sweet songs but classical is generally what works), just something for you to relax...sit down on the couch, lay your head on a pillow and breathe...music, what a beautiful invention! I hope it works...good luck!

I have had 3 babies...and I would manipulate them all the time if they were in a position that was uncomfortable to me...you Cannot hurt the baby!!!) Go ahead and ask your OBGYN = ) it used to freak my mom out when she would see me pushing on my stomach to "adjust" the baby...mine would stretch out length wise and I felt like they were going to separate my rib cage!

Just nudge the baby over a bit. Gently, but firmly push against the protruding part.

Ditto what Grandma T said - my 2nd did the same thing and my husband thought I was dying some days because I'd just lay there groaning in pain. The only things that moved the little bugger were getting on my hands and knees and arching/letting down my back and also laying on the edge of the bed with my head near or on the floor and the rest of me on the bed. That maneuver took two of us since I was way too fat to get back up on my own, but it stretched me out and made the baby move enough so I could get some relief! Good luck!

Even in utero, they still have a mind of their own!!!!! Only a few more
weeks. Hang in. You can try nudging baby and maybe he will move.
Chances are he will just go back

I loved warm baths in the end of my pregnancies...they helped with all kinds of pains. You are almost there :)

i feel your pain :( im also 36 weeks and my little one does this all day long! i just kinda shake my belly a little with my hand (gently) and it helps for a little bit, she usually kicks me when i do this- but i would rather have the kicking than her balling up. think of it this way, your almost done and wont have to put up with it much longer... all the pain we go through in pregnacy is worth it!
