I have been having trouble concieving and my doctor has ran a bunch of blood work and found out that my hormones are out of whack and Im not ovulating correctly. So, she has put me on provera to help me start my period. and once that is over and out of the way then she told me that she may put me on Chlomid (sp) and I was wondering if anyone has ever taken that and if so what were the side effects? thanks so much. my doctor is also testing me for PCOS

What can I do next?

Hi M.,
I have been on Clomid for 3 months now, and besides not being pregnant yet have had no unpleaseant side effects. My cycle has been out of wack my whole life, so my doctor told me it may take a few rounds for the medication to help regulate me. I get reevaluated every three months, and then the dose of Clomid is ajusted as needed. There is a lot of counting days with this medcation, so I recomend getting a calandar just for this. I hope this helps. Good luck

Chlomid works great to assist in ovulation, but you can expect mood swings and tireness. Depending on the level of the dosage will depend on the side effects. But expect to feel edgy and crabby while you're going through the regimine. Good Luck! I hope you only need one month to concieve!

Clomid will super-ovulate you. More eggies to create more follicles available to fertilize. Clomid can have side effects of hot flashes, and dry up cervical fluid. (So be sure to eat those baby carrots, drink lots of water, take musinex, and maybe Evening Prim Rose Oil, if you still need a boost in that department.) Also, don't be surprised if it causes you to ovulate a day or two later than normal. Sometimes it does that. But, it's not a bad thing. Using Ovulation Predictor tests would help you know when you are surging for that. Additionally, you may experience headaches, or dizziness. Not everyone will have these side effects, and maybe you won't have any or all of them. One thing I noticed when I was using Clomid, is that I felt my Ovulation much stronger than before.
I wish you all the luck in the world. Having a baby is such a joy, and if Clomid will help you get there....it's worth it.

Hi M.,

I have been in your "shoes". I also had trouble conceiving because my hormones were out of whack. I was put on Provera for awhile (sorry can't remember how long) and then my doctor put me on Clomid also. It only took two cycles to conceive my daughter (she is now 13). It only took one cycle to conceive my 2nd daughter (she is now 9) and nothing to conceive my son. He is now 7. He was a surprise baby. I did not have any side effects with the Clomid. I have also been diagnosed with PCOS. So I know exactly what you are going through.

A little about me: I am now 43 and a stay at home mom.
Take care and God bless.

I was on clomid before conceiving our first child. I had NO side effects. However, a close girlfriend of mine who took clomid had terrible night sweats. So, I think side effects differ depending on the person, unfortunately. :( You'll probably have your own unique symptoms- or hopefully none at all!

I was on it for a couple of cycles & I had the night sweats & horrible headaches. I know several people that didn't have any side effects. So, I guess everyone is different!

Hope it works for you! :)

Dear M., Sorry to hear about your trouble conceiving. My husband and I went thru 7 years of infertility, we did clomid in the beginning and there were no side effects that I recall. It is such a mild infertility drug that hopefuly that is all you will need to jump start your ovulation.

Good luck and God Bless

Cindy

Hi M.! I actually was diagnosed with PCOS and was basically having the same problems as you. They put me on Clomid to kick-start my ovulation and it worked well. In fact, that same month we ended up conceiving TWIN BOYS! The doctor was quite shocked because my PCOS was pretty severe and they didn't think I was going to be able to conceive on my own. God works in myserious ways....BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!

I also have PCOS, but I have never been on Chlomid. WHen I got preg. for my son the doctors were kinda shocked that my body did it on its own. I still have PCOS and I am due in November with my second baby. I was on medications years ago just to make me have periods(I ent a year and a half with out one) But, other than that nothing. Just be patient and it will happen!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

I have pcos. Provera and chlomid were like mild pms until you get into the super stong doses and then what I remember most is the extreme mood swings. I hope it works for you then all will be worth it. It did not however work for me they had me on 6 cycles of the highest dose allowed by the FDA and I never even ovulated. If you do have pcos though you should ask your doctor about gloucophage. Now, this does come with side effects, mostly severe upset stomach, but the best side effect of all is watching elmo in the other room and the other side effect is due in December, hahaha. Also, a low carb, low fat, high fiber, high protein diet. This works wonders on pcos and most hormone imbalances. Good luck.

Hi M.,
I don't know about any side effects, but you might want to consider doing a body cleanse, and getting your hormones in line. Did you have any problems trying to conceive with your 2 year old? I know that if your thyroid is out of balance, you will have a difficult time conceiving. If you have any questions, you can contact me at ____@____.com
Good Luck,
K.
