Hi Mamas! We just had a guy come and talk to our family about EcoWater and wanting to sell us this water purification system that works through osmosis. It would not only soften the hard water we have, but also get out all the wierd stuff my famiy drinks on a daily basis. I was hoping someone else out there has heard of the system, for good or bad and could help me decide what to do.

What can I do next?

I haven't heard of EcoWater, but household water softners tend to be one of those things that are great if you can afford the up-front expense. I think Culligan is the industry leader, and the ones to compare against when it comes to price. Rainsoft is another company out there, but their quote was way higher than Culligan and included things that we didn't need (like a 3-year supply of cleaning chemicals and a sink filtration system??). Overall these systems are good, but just be careful not to pay too much.

We used/use another company (Rain Soft). They have been fine- good service, etc...
I really just wanted to comment on the fact that we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our water system. I used to get light headed if I took hot showers because the steam would be full of all the chemicals, but now, I can enjoy a hot shower with nice, great water. My skin is softer, my hair feels great, I can drink water from my sink (we did the reverse osmosis system under the sink, as well). We are healthier because our alkaline levels in our body are correct now (we actually tested our alkaline levels). AND not having to purchase bottled water anymore is GREAT!!!!
It is pricey, but it has been worth it- there is no price for your families health!!
You will also notice that you don't have to use very much soap (we use all organic stuff). In fact, for about the first three months, I didn't have to use soap at all when washing towels because so much soap was still in the towels!!
You will have to get used to the feeling that you can't get the soap off your skin. That is not soap, though- it is actually the way your body is supposed to feel. We are used to the chemicals in everything stripping our body of all our oils, so when we don't feel that "squeaky" clean, we think we are dirty. That is not true.
Whew- didn't mean to go on so long. But, I just wanted to add my two cents in on how much I love our water system!! Well worth it- would recommend it to everyone. I love drinking water now.

We do not have EcoWater, but we have RainSoft purification in our house. It sounds to be close to the same products. We love our system! The filters for ours is a pricey to replace, so we don't get to place them as often as we would like, but you can still definitely tell a difference between the city water and our water! What I also like is that it is filtered through out the entire house. We have extra filtration through a special faucet in the sink. I would reccomend ours to others. You can get your water tested from our system at Home Depot. Used to you couldn't. We've had our system for about 8 years now. Good luck with your decision.

I would advise you to look up the website(s) on it and make your decision. I heard that it is good for you. I won't drink it because to me it's kind of an experiment. It is not regisered with the food and drug administration. I'm paranoid about that kind of thing.

Hi A.,
It might be just me but no one had mention the price and extra cost on this systems. We made the huge mistake installing one of these systems in 2004 and till this day we are still paying and owe more than $4,000.00. Stop working properly over a year ago and when we call the company, they want and extra $279.00 to come and maintenance it plus each filter cost between $50 and $80 each. (We have 4 filters under the kitchen sink) the outside we have to only put salt every 3 weeks, not that expensive but is not what we expected and then the toilets started to turn a pinkish and black weird stuff that had never happen before and after we turn the system off it’s stop. We don't know what that was and they would not give us any information over the phone until we agree to pay the $279.00 for the maintenance fee. We complain to the finance company and of course they said that was not their problem.....We are very, very, very disappointed and especially when we felt like they make us feel like bad parents if we didn't get this since it would benefit the whole family. At least you where able to think about it and get some advice, we didn't they would not leave our house until we agree to buy it. I regret wasting all this money all this years and still have to buy bottle water till this day. So unless they guarantee and make sure you are not stuck with high prices for them to fix or maintained the equipment if something happens, I will stay away from them. Like my husband said we should had gotten one of those faucet filters instead.... Hope you balance the pro and cons... and make sure everything is in righting... and even that, be careful the people we bought the system are not in business anymore so we are stuck... and even if I go to the website the prices are ridiculous.....but if you have the money, the system work for the first 3 to 4 years. I did not notice that much difference with the washing machine (they said you would use less detergent) and the same with soaps and shampoos. Hope at least this would make you think twice since the financial part of this is important too. Oh and another thing if you do decide to buy the system, be very careful when they come to install it, they broke our sprinkle system (they cut thru the pipes) when the pluming guys came to do the connections outside. They did tell us but didn’t fix it and my husband had to spend hours and materials to get it fix.

Hi, if this is a reverse osmosis water system, then I think it's a good idea! However it may be pretty expensive if you get the system for your entire house.- my husband went to home depot and bought one for under our kitchen sink, and it cost maybe $150-$200? He installed it himself and it is wonderful. (And he is NO handyman! He had to ask the people at home depot for help several times but eventually got it done.) No more nasty tasting water. The replacement filters are pretty expensive (about $50) but overall this is much cheaper than buying bottled water, and much more convenient.

These systems may provide filtered water but if your are wanting water with added health benefit check out alkaline water. I happen to be a distributor however became a distributor after my sister was diagnosed with cancer and began drinking alkaline water which helped so much with her cancer. RainFresh water (most waters) are acidic to your body - water can be tested with a standard PH strip or reaghent in the water. Our tap water is actually ph balanced but there are so many added chemicals in the water. If you want to know more I can point you in the direction for some self research.

I just don't get into these heavy sells to families who may not need or afford them.

We have a good filter system via our fridge and we are heavy bottled water users.

We are in an industry heavily involved with FDA and we just don't get into these home systems. They are a great $$$$$ maker for the seller of the product.

Your family....... Your choice...... It's up to you to do what's right for your family.
Good luck
