Anyone Have Direct TV and Do You like It?

Am thinking about switching from Comcast to Direct TV. We have AT$T for our phone carrier and internet connection and if we bundle everything together including the TV we could save some money. Would like to hear of anyone who has Direct Tv and if they like it or not.

Hi C.!

We've had DirecTv for a little over 10 years now, and I highly recommend it. We switched from Comcast because their customer service was just awful! I haven't had any problems with DirecTv's customer service. Whenever I call with a question, I get my question answered with no problems. We've also moved a couple of times with the service, and haven't had any problems there either. So for us, it's basically been worry free. And I'm one of those people who believe that "if it ain't broke - don't fix it". So as long as I continue to not have any problems with them, I'll continue to use them.

We have had DirecTV for almost 7 years and love it. Wouldn't change anything about it. (Especially their awesome HD channel lineup!) We've had great customer service with the very few, very minor issues we've had over the years. My only complaint would be that the signal tends to go out during a thunderstorm, but I'm guessing that's probably the case with any satellite tv carrier. One other small complaint is that their OnDemand capabilities are nearly as good as Comcast's. Regardless, I highly recommend DirecTV!

We have Direct Tv for over 2 yrs now and dont have any problems at all. We had Comcast for over 8 years and made the switch to Direct after having horrible customer service from Comcast. I only had to call Direct once (4 months ago) and had great customer service.Good luck

I have no problems with Direct TV at all. They answer the phone when you call and help you fix any problems right away (I have only had two problems in about 6 years). The first they fixed over the phone, the second one they overnighted a new box that we received the next day along with a prepaid overnight shipping box to return the defective box. Super happy with them, unlike comcast, who had terrible customer service.

We have Dish Network and so far we are having no problems with it (going on a month now) Yes it has gone out twice due to thunderstorms, but was right back on in a matter of minutes. I do miss Comcast, don't miss the bill, outragous! We were going to get Direct TV but they wouldn't give us a monthly price without running our credit first, and that just didn't fly with us. Good luck to you.

We have had direct tv for 15 years & can't stand it!!! It is over priced, over the years the customer service has gotten progressively worse and when the weather is bad, you don't get ant reception. If we weren't under contract for the next 14 months we would have switched to at& t already!!! Go with AT&T !!!

We have Direct Tv and have few problems unlike my grandma who has dish. We have had maybe 1 lost signal and that was in the middle of winter. But since we have it mounted in the ground it wasn't hard to dust off.
Just ordering it because my husband joked around with the guy on the phone we had a bunch of deals thrown in including free install next day. Oh and get Tivo it rocks! Though it does tend to spoil you, we rarely watch regular tv anymore. My husband actually freaked out once when he forgot we were watching regular tv and couldn't fast forward.

Hmmm I must be in the minority here *chuckle*.

We've been a DirecTv family for about 10 years now and absolutely love it. We've had no problem with our boxes, our dishes, or tuners, or our customer service.

But...you're definitely on the right track dumping Comcast - you'll be a happier woman even if you don't switch it to DirecTc!

We have Direct TV for the last 2 years. I guess I am partial to it. If I had a problem, they do answer my questions via phone quickly. During lightning storms or high winds, the signal will go out, but we usually will play a movie on the DVR. LOVE THE DVR!! Don't know what I ever did without one. No more video tapes! My only complaint is the cost. I called to try and negotiate even $5 off my bill a month, and they refused. I even threatened to go to Dish Network, which is cheaper, and they didn't even say - Let me have you talk with a supervisor. They didn't care they could lose a loyal, 2 year paying on time customer. Yet - the rep on the phone could have been 18 and maybe I could have gotten somewhere if I asked for a supervisor.

All I can say is DirecTv, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! They have the WORST customer service!!!! I have had nothing but problems with them. I would NEVER, EVER recommend them to anyone! With that being said, (lol) we now have AT&T, and have been very, very happy.

I don't have DirecTV so I can't say about the customer service there. But I have looked into it. We currently have Dish Network, one of the Latino versions because my husband wants the additional channels for soccer and boxing. Direct would cost us an additional $23 a month. A friend recently switched from Comcast to AT&T and is very happy. She is saving money, plus she says she has not had any problems with it. I think she got it just before Christmas.
Just a word of caution. Whatever service you go through, go directly to the carrier. My neighbor's sister lives in a condo and for whatever reason the company could not get her connected correctly. She cancelled the service but since she went through a "contractor" not directly with dish or directv, she was charged fees for cancelling and equipment. 5 months of headache.
