I am a financial analyst by trade. However, finance and accounting are like english and spanish! Completely different!

I think becaue my brain is trained for finance, accounting makes NO sense to me. I just started an 11 week course in accounting (required for my MBA) and it's already getting to me.

Is there anyone who has any good tips or is willing to help me? I have this weeks work on PDF, not the best copies, but readable. I really need a way to figure this stuff out.

Oh - and my entire MBA program is online - so it's not like I can go sit and talk to my professor.

Help!!

What can I do next?

I hold a MAAC so I guess I am good at accounting. :p I know what you mean, I would sit in my finance courses and go are you sure??!!!

PM me. :)

Oh I tutored a marketing major. I am still not sure that he understood it but at least he passed the test.

Oh what accounting course? I am good at them all but some are easier to explain than others. Like managerial and cost I could explain to a fifth grader, ya know?

See if you can get a tutor. One of my daughters took an accounting course last semester and the only reason she managed to pass it was because she had a tutor who could explain things. Her instructor was a new teacher who really did an awful job.

The best accounting tip I received when I was learning it as an adult was to not question "why" and just learn and accept the accounting principles.

Once I got the basics down (ACE LOS and a couple other things) without trying to understand why, the rest of it came a bit easier.

Not sure how far into you are or if that helped, but it helped me at the time.
