I'm not, but all the talk of end of the world (and really, who can avoid it? it's EVERYWHERE!) is freaking out my kids. My 8 yr old has been really quiet all afternoon and I can tell this is REALLY bothering her. Which bothers me. I don't mind people believing whatever they want to believe, but when it starts negatively affecting my kids, it starts to upset me. Right now, I just want to punch that fear-monger Camping right in the face. I really don't understand why this guy's gotten so much press and I can't wait to hear his "excuse" on Monday when his followers (hopefully) confront him as the fraud he is.

Nope.

But I do have to admit to wondering about the 2012 predictions and am hanging my hat on the fact that the Mayan guy in charge of writing out the calendar was just like "Sheesh! That is far enough...let some other guy do the rest"!!

I'm agnostic so according to the Bible I'm doomed anyway so I'm going on about my life. He's shouting a fear tactic to get money and attetnion. Don't let him or the thought of dooms day make you afraid. If you are a believer like many others then according to scripture you have nothing to worry about.

So no I'm not afraid of any dooms day, tomorrow or in the future. I refuse to live my life in that kind of fear.

I understand how you feel. When I was in 8th grade someone had predicted the end of the world and it was so scary. There were people in our town walking down to the river with big cardboard signs, just waiting. I cried and cried, and told my Dad I was afraid. He told me not to be scared because the Bible tells us that no man will know the time. He told me to always be ready, meaning to always ask God to forgive me when I have done anything wrong, and to ask Him into my heart and always keep Him there. Then, I would never have to be afraid. I have thought from time to time that I haven't asked for forgiveness quite as quickly as I should have, or that I should have kept myself better in check than I had. I should have not gotten angry and said something wrong, or I shouldn't have thought the way I did about someone else and what I perceived to be their faults. But, for me, because I do believe in God, (and I mean not to upset anyone who does not) I know that He knows my heart and knows I am trying to do what He would have me to do. My Dad's words have brought me comfort many times, and will continue to remind me that because no one knows the hour, I need to live my life the best I can so that any hour will find me ready.
Please don't be afraid. :)

I predict the world will end at 1:00pm on July 15th, 2011. Now, give me your money and start panicking.

Hah, hah, hah. Just kidding.

What the world needs more of is Love. What it needs less of is Fear.
Take heart. Everything ends eventually. Doesn't make the present any less precious. Quite the contrary. Let's savor every moment and then, when it's over (life is terminal!), we'll have LIVED!!!

ETA: My husband called the church, out of curiosity. "Interestingly", if you want to speak with someone, you must first make a donation. I don't understand. If the world is actually ending, why would they ask for your money? What good would it do when they all go to heaven tomorrow.

I have too much to do to be worried about whatever this is.
We have a funeral 16 hours away and I just spent 7 hours at the mall waiting for Sears to get their heads out of their asses and fix the van. Maybe tomorrow all the dip$hits in this word will wake up with a clue.
I can only hope.

Deuteronomy 18:21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

The false "prophet" Harold Camping has made these predictions in the name of the Lord before and has been wrong.

Deuteronomy 18:20 "...But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”

Therefore, if Harold Camping was alive thousands of years ago when Moses wrote Deuteronomy he would have been killed when he was wrong about his first prophesy, and wouldn't have been around some 16 years later to correct his "mathmatical error."

Ok, first of all, the scriptures themselves, the Bible, states that no man knoweth the day He will come and if someone tries to tell you otherwise they are a false prophet. It's sad that so many "christians" don't even read the Bible enough to see that this guy is completely false and full of it. If you go to this morons website to see how he came to his predictions it is so LAME!! The man has already been wrong twice before, what's to say he's right this time? You get stupid Bible bashers that pray upon weak individuals that clearly don't read the Bible themselves, they rely on their Pastor, Preacher etc to tell them what to think so you get a group/cult following of scaredy cats. Do your homework, if you own a Bible do a little studying tonight, it'll make you feel more at peace. Don't be afraid, life is good:)

NOPE! The Bible CLEARLY states that NO ONE, not even Christ Himself, knows the day or hour. This man has been wrong before. He was a very well respected minister until he got into numerology. Guess what? The calendars we use are OFF! And no one knows for certain just how far. You should live EVERY day as though it is your last, not just a specific date.

I agree with Leslie, there were legitimate Y2K problems within the technology realm, I'm referring to the people who blew it up through the media that the world would end.

No, I'm not afraid--more amused to sit back and watch the headlines.
FYI: This guy also made this prediction in the 90's so his track record isn't good.
Also, in the Bible Christ says that no one knows the day or the hour, not even Himself, only the Father. So what are the chances some mere mortal is going to crack the code?!
Also, if it happens--well, then we don't have to deal with cancer or global warming making the world flood!
See, there's always a bright side! ;-) Cheer up. And God bless you!

Remember how everything was supposed to fall apart because of Y2K? And absolutely nothing happened.

Besides if you think there might be even the slighest chance, lay down with your husband and both of you have some fun tonight.

Good luck to you and yours.

No. The Bible says we don't know the day or hour so his supposed prediction is not Biblical at all. Besides which, it's past 6PM in some parts of the world and people are still there AND he's now spouting something about it taking til October. Yeah...

Oh, and he predicted this in 1994 or something, too. Not a reliable source of information.

Edit: Read through the responses - so they're still asking for money? Interesting.

So I guess I'll have to wait and see! When I joke around about it my 12 year old just rolls her eyes, "mom", and "it's just a movie'.
