I was wondering if there is any other mothers who have Fibromyalgia. With all the symptoms Ive had and talking with the doctor Im thinking Fibromyalgia and she says no muscle myalgia. I didnt tell her all the symtoms Im having and after doing extensive research about all my symptoms Im 99% sure that Fibromyalgia is what I have. Id like to talk with other people who have it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Went to see a Rheumatologist yesterday. They couldn't give me a definite answer. They were concerned about rheumatoid arthritis so they ran some blood test to see about inflammation. And other stuff. Should Know how that went today. I looked on my lab papers and they had me as a Coded diagnose of myalgia and myositis muscle pain and inflammation of the muscles. I think I also have arthritis in my hips and neck. Thats all I know I go back in a month.

My mother has Fibromyalgia. It's hard for her but she manages. If you would like I can get you in contact with her. She only got diagnosed after I got married but she also has...ok I have no idea how to spell it but it deals with her hip and it made her leg shorter for awile and she couldn't hardly walk. I was around 11 I think. I personally believe she had Fibro. while I was a child but that it just got looked over but she was single and took care of me and I know that she would talk to you and try to help you trough this. Let me know and Good Luck.

My hubby has it and Rheumatologists are a complete waste of time and money. They can give you the latest version of inflammation or pain reducers, but even those don't help much. My hubby has been seeing a chiropractor who thru adjustments and testing to see what supplements would be beneficial to his specific needs, has helped quite a bit. Also nearly all of his pain disappeared upon starting a gluten free diet. There is also a mom at my sons school that has it and after hearing how the gluten free diet helped my hubby she decided to try it. She was stunned that just after a week all of her pain was gone completely. You have to be 100% strict to stay away from gluten if you try it. That and it sometimes can take a few weeks to notice a significant difference mainly because most people aren't too successful at being able to cut it out completely all at once. Partially doing it does not make much if any difference. Your body must be completely rid of gluten to see the positive change. Good luck!

When I first developed Fibromyalgia about 30 years ago, there were very few doctors that knew anything about it. I've never gotten a diagnosis but I had no doubt that was the reason for my aches and pains and stiffness and fatigue.

My daughter was diagnosed with it a little over two years ago, and I understand it's one of those things that seem to have a familial component. The doctors have not given her much in the way of treatment or relief, she has tried everything from physical therapy to massage to chiropractic, from ibuprofen to prescription drugs to an injection in her spinal column.

The hardest part is not getting depressed. I spent many years that way before going into a remission, and recently began experiencing a new flare up. We buried my 51 year old sister on Friday following a three-year battle with ovarian cancer, and I'm trying to tell myself that at least the Fibro isn't terminal, and I'm hoping that my daughter and I will both go into remission again.

Good luck to you in dealing with this, and to everyone who suffers with it.

I too had all the symptons of fibromyalgia and have had for a few years. I recently started seeing a holistic doctor and found out that it could be caused by too much yeast in my body. You can get yeast throughout your body including mouth and intestines. I've been taking acidopholus to combat the yeast and am feeling better, not nearly as tired. The amount in yogurt is not enough, so I've been taking capsules. I, of course, don't know if yeast could be contributing to your fibromyalgia, but it's something to consider. I also had a problem with vitamin C which caused a lot of my muscle aches. After the doctor treated me for vitamin C and I took some extra to get over my deficiency of vitamin C, the aches have gone away. Now my only ache is my left knee which I had injured. If you'd like any more info on any of this, feel free to email me.

I participated in a University of Oklahoma study for my diagnosis and medications at first. I had muscle pain and weakness, fatigue and a change in muscle structure from poor posture. It also inhibited the healing of a tear in my rotator cuff.

I'm no longer taking the medication because I have no health insurance. It was only Naproxin Sodium. I can take Advil to help.

The things I do to cope are

pass on some of the more achy jobs. My husband does the dishes and cleans the kitchen.

rest more often. He handles the morning routine and I sleep in

follow Fly Lady's plan for cleaning. When you only do 5-15 minutes at a time it is less tiring.

Stay hydrated.

I keep a journal of symptoms and actions that way I can find less painful ways of keeping up with my kids.

My routine keeps me and the boys on track as well. The less stress I have the less pain I have.

I too believe I have it. For years people kept telling me they thought I did because of all the various ailments I had. Then a doctor told me he felt that was probably it and asked if I wanted to be sent to a specialist to find out for sure. I decided against doing that.

I have researched and talked with others for years. At times I was so down with it that I could barely pick up my daughter or other children in my daycare. There were times when my bladder infections just came one after another and I was fatigued ALL the time. But those days are almost past.

I believe that my symptoms have left the longest and stayed gone most completely when I keep my stress levels low, eat really well, exercise a lot but very carefully, and sleep enough. I've learned to shut the tv off at night and go to bed in a dark room without noise, exercise consistantly but without going overboard, and meditate. I listen to relaxation cd's, think positive, stay as close to God as I can and keep my conscience clean.

There have been a couple other things that have helped. I bought myself MBT shoes which has helped with my heel and feet pain, and I started swimming in addition to the treadmill I was already doing. For so long I saw myself as tired, old, and a little depressed. I was unhappy about having fibromyalgia and could see myself becoming decrepid! I had to take my health in my hands and change my attitude.

As one Fibro mom to another, my heart goes out to you. You have the invisible syndrome and will have a lifetime of managing your illness. I am 27 years old have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for 14 years. There is no quick fix, no solve all. Stick with your instincts, get lots of support, find a good doctor and remember that they are just an educated opinion. If you find a regimen that works for you, stick with it until it quits working and find another. Know that you can do it! Good Luck!

Hi D., I have fybromyalgia also. I have talen medications and depression medicine when I found out that I had this illness. I did not get any better just overmedicated. I am currently not taking any medication. The best thing you can do for yourself is keep moving.I have also noticed the more weight I have on the harder and more painful it is. Exercise and watch out for foods that cause more inflammation. Tomatoes, salty items really cause my fybromyalgia to flare up. Keep a diary of foods you eat to find out which ones hinder you. Meditation is good, and massage helps. Just keep moving, it will get better if you change your diet and exercise. Stephanie

Hi D., I have fibromyalgia, and believe me when I say I feel for you. I believe I have had fibromyalgia for years, but was formally diagnosed last year. I don't take meds for it because I have a low tolerance for meds (a Benadryl will knock me out). I am raising my grandson. I had him from birth to 4 1/2 mos. then got him back at 7 mos. He turned 1 yr. old yesterday. If I took the meds my dr. prescribed, I would be unable to care for Razzy. Somedays it is an effort to get out of bed. But, as parents we do what we have to. I'm afraid that I'm not much help, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. On a good day my pain level is only at about a 6or7.

I have it. You need to see a Rheumatologist for a correct diagnosis. Sorry I know I probably did not spell that correct.
