Anyone Allergic to Their Christmas Tree?

We bought a real Christmas tree this year as we usually do. We don't always buy the exact same type of tree or get it from the same place. This year we got a fairly inexpensive tree from a pop-up type of place close to our house. Ever since we brought it home, I'm sneezing like crazy. My sinuses are clogged/running. I'm taking OTC allergy meds and they help somewhat. I don't feel "sick", it feels like the allergies I sometimes get in the spring and fall. I'm the only one in the house who is feeling like this.

I sing in my church's band and this isn't a good time to not be at my best. Any suggestions to get rid of the reaction besides anti-hystamines? Anyone else allergic to their tree?

What can I do next?

We had to switch to an artificial tree because of allergies. I have pine scented candles that keep it smelling like a fresh tree is in my house but doesn't leave all of us congested and unable to breathe. Maybe something to consider for next year.

As for treating the allergies ... What has worked for me when my allergies are really bad is to combine Zyrtec with quercetin. One a day of the Zyrtec and one or two a day at the same time I take the Zyrtec. works great for me.

you can get quercetin at places like GNC or whole foods.

Yup! Haven't had a real tree in 20+ yeas because we finally figured out that is what I am allergic to. I can't have synthetic scents either as I'm allergic to those too. So candles and all that type stuff is out. Even without a tree I am having allergy problems to something, still can't figure out what.

Yes! Last year I was in the same boat so we bought artificial this year. I am really allergic dust and some pollens and I think the tree had both.

My 23-year-old is allergic to Christmas trees. We are so dumb it took us several years to put it together and realize that she was sick every year around Christmas because of the tree. Allergy testing later on confirmed it. Once we switched to artificial, she wasn't sick around Christmas anymore!

Yes, this year we got a Frasier Fir, which seems to be even worse then other trees!

It's a Claritin a day for me for 'bout a month. Well worth it to me, though. Can't imagine going artificial.

AAAHHHH-CHOO!
