Hi all,
I'm wondering what you all give in dollar amounts to your kids' teachers for the holidays? My son has a FANTASTIC Kindergarten teacher. I'd also like to give to his gym teacher whom he loves. Suggestions? I'm buying charity gift cards.

Thanks so much,
L

So What Happened?

Thank you all! I am going to get his primary teacher a $25 gift card to TisBest, which I know she'll love. His previous teacher did. We designed a custom card with my son holding his prized projects from her class. She is still thanking me for it! (tisbest.org). His gym teacher will get a $15 card to Target so he can get the SpongeBob PJ bottoms he says he wants! : )

And his bus driver will get a basket of homemade goodies, including a homemade card from my son. I have a few others to figure out, but with your help, I now know what direction to go. Thank you all!

this is my daughter's second year in preschool with the same teacher (first was 3 year old program, now she's in a 4 yr old program with the same teacher). we know her favorite store is TJ Maxx, so I'm getting her a $25 gift card to there and will have my daughter make her the card to put it in.

I am a teacher and I think $10 is fine. From a store you know shehe likes or a coffee place, etc. As corny as it sounds, though, the best part will be a note/picture from your son. Maybe a picture of the two of them doing something together that he enjoys (like reading a book, or doing a craft project). One that he has drawn and colored, not a photo :) Those types of things are always my favorites!

This is new for me too as my son is now in Kindergarten. I am putting together a bag for his teacher and the classroom aide (he loves them both). They will be getting a chocolate covered apple, a small ornament, and gift card for $15. I will also be putting together a bag for his bus driver who he adores...but my son said he likes beef jerky...so who knows what he will get - lol.

I'm going to put a little gift basket together from Ulta, they are having a 5 for 10$ sale. And I'm including a gift card to a movie. So my total will be right around 30

Having several teaches in my family, I would say the giftcard ideas are great. I am a hairdresser and also sell Uppercase Living, so I usually give gifts of shampoo/conditioner sets or gift certs for Uppercase. If I give a gift certificate it is for $20.00, I probably spend about $10.00 on the Hair care. Remember they get a lot of gifts and a lot of stuff they will never use.

Typically, here, classroom parents as a whole, together, get a together gift for the Teacher.
They each give a certain dollar amount, that had been decided on prior. That way, no one is judged by how much they gave or not, for the gift.

Per the other Teacher, the Gym Teacher, the gift should not, to me, be better than the gift you give to your child's Kindergarten Teacher. Since, the Kinder Teacher is his primary Teacher.

I don't know what you mean by "charity cards."
But typically, $10-20 is the norm per gifts.
