Hi everyone,

I am interested in putting my 12 mos old on an alternative vaccine schedule, but my pediatrician only has the MMR lumped in one shot and has recommended if I want to have the separate shots I need to find a pharmacy that sells the MMR separately. Does anyone know of any pharmacy in the Pasadena area that sells this shot separately?

What can I do next?

I went to Dr. Fleiss's office in Los Feliz and was not his patient. I asked for the separated MMR. Which they did, though in limited dosages, as they had to wait for other patients who also requested it as the vaccine is expensive. This was about 2 1/2 years ago...

I will warn you that he tried to talk me out of it while I was in the office and said that it was crazy to separate them out. I held fast and said it gave me a piece of mind. He did it, but it was kind of awkward. You have to go back three separate times for each shot, so it gets a little expensive.

Check with the CDC and they should be able to give you a source for the individual components. Good luck!

Hi J.
I don't know about pharmacy's that sell the vaccines separate, but I do know you can do some research and call the manufacturer of the vaccine directly. You may be able to find out the names of the individual vaccines so your pediatrician can order them for your child.
Good luck,

Our pedi offers the shots separately. Perhaps you could phone them and ask them where they order the vaccines.

Just look up Dr. Gerald Whitman in Beverly Hills. We use one of the pedi's in that group.
