Allergic Reaction to Lipstick

I'm so sorry that happened! I've heard of that happening, yes! It is likely that the product changed without you knowing until the reaction. Cosmetics are changed and revamped all the time!

This happens to me with any lip products that contain lanolin. Also, a lot of sunscreens will do the same. Lanolin sensitivity is fairly common, and it's not too difficult to get lipstick/gloss without lanolin. I have Arbonne lip gloss that doesn't have lanolin, and some of the drugstore brand lipsticks are made without it (I think Revlon, but you'll have to double check). You just have to read labels for a while until you find the ones that work for you. Also, watchout for chapstick type products (with or without sunscreen). Most of them contain lanolin.

When they get really irritated, try a cortizone or benadryl cream to reduce inflammation, and moisturize with pure aloe vera gel (Mannatech makes a good one called Emprizone) or even plain vaseline (NOT aquaphor, which is a vaseline/lanolin combo).

back in college I had a rommate who was allergic to the spf (sunscreen) in lipsticks. it might be that. I don't know what type of gloss she ended up wearing, sorry!

I read your post and wanted to tell you a little about Arbonne products. They are terrific and all natural. Burt's Bees has a chapstick with color in it. I love it and no longer wear any real lipstick. It is mostly natural, but depending on what exactly you are allergic to.... You should call the company and see how they have changed their formula. You will be better able to choose a product after that. Good Luck!

Sometimes I feel like this site is all about people waiting to sell you something when you mention that you need a new product, but in saying that, I use Arbonne products and I love the fact that they are all natural products. I do not sell the products, but I do think they are wonderful and they have a money back guarantee so you should feel comfortable trying them. Make sure that you don't use any of the "plumping" products though since your lips may be sensitive. From what I have read, these products somewhat irritate your lips to make them plump, which it sounds like you don't need. Good luck!

I agree with Maggie...I use Arbonne everything because of all of the things that are in cosmetics. They have a great selection on lipstick color and have special edition colors as well. I am allergic to lipsticks, too. The chapsticks and lip balms didn't help and sometimes made it worse. I tried L'Oreal Color Riche a couple years ago and have been wearing it ever since. My sister had the same problem and has switched to this one, too.
