Advise on How to Get My 2Yr Old to Sleep Thru the Night
My 2 year old son used to be a great sleeper, but recently he started waking up 2 or 3 times a night. Do you think a "white noise machine would help?
Thanks....sleepless in Montreal ! zzzzzzzzzz

he could just be going through a growth spurt or entering a new faze. Both my kids 3 and 16 months always seem to have disturbed sleep when they are changing and moving into a new phase in their development. I remember my 3 year old waking up when he was 2 for a good month straight. But it passed. If you can just wait it out. He should grow out of it just like he gre into it. If that makes any sense! :)

Hi D.!
Has anything changed recently? Is your boy getting his 2 year molars in and he is waking up due to the pain? Is he over tired and maybe should go to sleep a little earlier? I use a cool mist humidifier for the noise in my girls rooms.
Good luck,
S.

Save your money and buy a box fan. Worked wonders for me, it helps drown out a lot of background noise and a door shutting or a creaking staircase will no longer wake him. The downside, you have to crank listen to a static sound from the fan in the baby monitor, my solution was to sleep with a fan myself to drown out the static sound and turn it up enough to hear her snoring :)

Getting a white noise machine is a great idea. Here's a link to the "gold standand" in these types of machines.

Hi D.,
Yes, we use a sound machine every nap and at bedtime to drown out outside noise and to set the scene for sleep. We like the "rain" sound because it's steady and nice to listen to. Also, if my 2 year old gets up 1 night and i go in, i notice she might get up the next night also. If it's 1 night and it sounds serious I do go in to her, but if it is happening again the next night and the next night I try to not go in. If she thinks she can see Mommy in the middle of the night then she would like that. If it doesn't continue to work for her night after night then she will stop trying.
Good luck!
D.
