I was hoping someone would have some great (and cheap) ideas for things to do with family. I haven't seen my father in six years and I finally talked him into coming to see me! YEAH! But I am at a loss for things to do. He will be here the week before Christmas and then for one week after Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want this to be a great trip for everyone!! He has never met his grandson so it will be special time for us. Please remember I am a single mom on a TIGHT budget!!

Last year my husbands sister and neice came down from Massachusetts, and we took them to the botanical gardens in Ft Worth. It was a beautiful day out (a little chilly, but not bad)and we all got to walk around the gardens and take pictures, etc. That was free, parking was free too. Don't know if the stock yards are open, maybe spend some time there also. Billy Bobs has the arcade for the kids, etc... We did that in Aug. when friends come down. Have a great visit with your dad.

Don't know if you're close to Grapevine, but they have a ton of free Christmas stuff going on down on Main St., Tonight they're having a Christmas parade and every weekend until Christmas they will be having train rides, carriage rides, games etc. the website is www.grapevinetexasusa.com. May be worth checking out. Have fun with your family!!

Richardson has a Santa's Village. It's completely free! (except if you want to buy food/drinks). Here is the website: http://www.cor.net/winterholiday/homepage.html
It's just off of 75 (on the west side) and Arapaho. There are little houses & decor great for picture taking. THere is entertainment like the area school choirs, dance classes, etc.
