Last year my husbands sister and neice came down from Massachusetts, and we took them to the botanical gardens in Ft Worth. It was a beautiful day out (a little chilly, but not bad)and we all got to walk around the gardens and take pictures, etc. That was free, parking was free too. Don't know if the stock yards are open, maybe spend some time there also. Billy Bobs has the arcade for the kids, etc... We did that in Aug. when friends come down. Have a great visit with your dad.

It's just off of 75 (on the west side) and Arapaho. There are little houses & decor great for picture taking. THere is entertainment like the area school choirs, dance classes, etc.

Don't know if you're close to Grapevine, but they have a ton of free Christmas stuff going on down on Main St., Tonight they're having a Christmas parade and every weekend until Christmas they will be having train rides,carriage rides, games etc. the website is www.grapevinetexasusa.com.
