9 Month Old Cries Standing in Crib? Can't Lay Back Down?

Help! I'm trying to sleep train my 9 month old. The problem isn't listening to her cry. I can handle the every 10, 20, 30 minutes of crying it out periods. The problem is she can't sit herself back down inside her crib. She instantly stands to cry and when I go in after 30 minutes she is half asleep on her feet, resting her head on the crib bars. I think if she cried lying down or could lie down when she was ready to sleep, that it might help!
Has anyone else had to deal with a child that stands?
I'm 5 minutes away from Duct tape. he he.
Thanks!
K.

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the suggestions! Emily isn't really a monster, she's just fighting sleep tooth and nail. I finally got her to the point where she will sleep in her crib, and then she learns to stand up! It's been a looong week of 2 hours of sleep total a night.
Hopefully she will start feeling secure enough to not need me all night long. Thanks so much for the suggestions! (I'm looking into the turtle nightlight) It's wonderful to have a place where you aren't judged for being a tired mom and needing help!

When she is awake, practice, practice, practice, sitting from a standing up position. She will get it pretty quick if you help teach her how. I had a few that did, that, I just kept helping them while awake, and laying them back down when in bed.
Good luck,
E.

During the day when she pulls herself up to furniture, you can help her learn to get back down by just taking her hands off the chair or couch and turning her and letting her gently drop to the floor. She will figure it out fast enough unless you are always stopping her and helping her. Dont be afraid to let her fall to the floor from standing. Go ahead and gently push her back to sitting and make it a game. She wont take long to learn to do it on her own.

My daughter would do the same thing when she was 7 months old, we practiced during the day and she learned within a week. We did "Standing up, sitting down." Thanks for the memory : ) Encourage her, don't be afraid of her hurting herself, this will help her to learn and carpeting and her diaper will cushion her bum.

And a friend of mine had a great idea for her son who stood up and couldn't get down by himself,. She purchased a Turtle Night light from Amazon, that projects stars on the ceiling and keeps him interested and laying down and helped him to go to sleep:

Hi, K.:

My concern is your label already for your child.
Why have you labeled your child, "the monster?"

Your child is picking up the negative energy that you are giving off and she
is wanting to be nurtured and have security that you love her.
Pick up the child and comfort her.
Even if it takes all night.
Just my thoughts.

My daughter is 8 months and is also going through this. I just go in every few minutes, gently put her back down and say "go to sleep, baby. I love you." Eventually, she gives up and goes to sleep.

Also, last night it was cool enough to put her in a thin sleep sack. It's the
first nigh in about a week that she hasn't stood up..... I'm wondering if it's too hard to stand in the sleep sack? Might be worth a
try!
