I would try Carnation Good Start formula and take her off the Soy. She might be reacting to the reflux medicine as well. If switching formula doesn't work, I'd make an appointment with her Pediatrician.

My youngest son had a lot of problems with formula and spitting up. You should start with you doctor and they will probably send you to a pediatric specialist that can help you. My son was allergic to milk protein and ended up on pregestimal for 6 months and then we switched to regular formula. He also had blood in his stool. Hope this helps, but I would definately take a baby in to see the doctor at 7 weeks old.

First, try not to worry! I know it's hard, but your baby picks up on your emotions, so try to stay calm. And it may seem she's vomiting it all up, but she's not. Our firstborn daughter experienced horrible feeding problems when she was tiny, too. personally, i think docs are quick to jump to reflux as a conclusion. So, if your baby is not getting better, or if your are unsatisfied with your doctors visits, get a second opinion. You are your daughter's advocate since she has no voice yet. There are other options to try. We had to give our daughter, at the recommendation of our pediatrician, a formula (quite expensive) called Nutramigen. Made by Enfamil, I believe. I had actually been breastfeeding and that was even too harsh for her but the Nutramigen was extremely gentle and she actually was EATING without vomiting! We had to give her that for 9 months and then switched to soy for about a month or two then the regular formula, then milk at a year. Also, they did a test (xray) to see if her stomach had a problem where the opening at the end of the stomach where it enters into the intestine isn't developed all the way and it is very small. She didn't have that problem, thank God, but it's good to be aware (not panic!) about the possibilities and if you feel something else could be wrong, talk to your doctor and insist that she get more care/testing. That's another thing you learn when you're a new parent - to speak up and get the best care for your child.

My sister in law went through a similar situation with her son. He began projectile vomiting entire bottles regardless of what was in them. Her pediatrician determined that he had pyloric stenosis which is a narrowing of the opening of the stomach to the intestine. If you can't get your baby to keep anything down you may want to ask your doctor about this. I hope you figure our why this is happening and how you can fix it. I wish your family the best.

Please insist that your pediatrician look at your daughter's situation seriously. At her age, she doesn't have a lot of extra reserves to lose.

Hello All, My niece is going through the same experence and the Dr. wants to do surgery , has anyone else had anything like this. I am just trying to find other options for her

My daughters Pediatrician finally put my grandson on Nutramigen, yes it's the most expensive, but she said it was the easiest for the child to digest. He was able to eat this without the side effects of some of the other formulas.
Also my doctor said that an infant will not let itself starve if it is given the chance to eat, if it gets sick or something it will only eat what it needs not to be sick, they are more attuned to their needs than we are.

Your daughter's reflux medication is no longer working and her reflux has returned. She likely outgrew the dosage. She needs to go back to the doctor and the dosage needs to be adjusted. When she is on the correct dose of medication she will stop throwing up her formula. My twins had reflux and what you are experiencing happened every 5-6 weeks to us. Take her back to the doctor. Reflux can hurt and she needs to be eating more than one ounce.

Hi there. We went through similar problems with our son, right around 6 weeks. At first I thought it was just reflux. Once I told my doctor (who used to specialize in pediatric gastrointenstinal medicine) about his symptoms, she checked him for a milk and soy protein allergy. He also had reflux, which accompanies most babies with the allergy, but that was not what was causing his tummy pain. It's very common in babies actually, but not talked about a lot. However, it's a very simple test that your doctor can perform. They take a sample of his bowel movement, put it on this special paper, if it turns blue, then yes he has it. And it's very easy to fix once diagnosed... just a different formula until he outgrows it :) If you've got questions about this, contact me. I'd be happy to tell you my son's symptoms, etc.

Unless she has a milk allergy, get her off the soy ! Some people are allergic to soy products.
If it continues, please contact her doctor.

My daughter also had reflux as a infant. At the recommendation of her family doctor I also tried Soy and had the same problem. After just two feedings of Soy formula her reflux was 10 times worse!!! I switched to Enfamil A.R. and it seemed to work decent for her.

I would say your first step though would be to call your dr!

It is a tough battle finding the right combination of everything to help them through this rough time. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel! My little girl is now 7 1/2 months old and her refulx is pretty much gone.
