My son is & and 1/2 months old.I'm just trying to figure out if he's really eating alot for his age or if it's normal because I have friends whose babies are a little bit older and they don't even eat 1/2 of what my son eats.He eats table food(with limitations) and Stage 3 foods. He's starting to want more than just one jar of the baby food.he's starting to eat 1 and 1/3 jars.theother babies i know that are older are just now starting to eat stage one foods but are mostly on milk.my son still breastfeeds but doesn't want to be bothered too much with it anymore.

What can I do next?

A.,
Even though your son is wanting to eat lots of solid foods, he is still only 7 months old. Until he is at least 1 year old, breastmilk is still the most perfect food for him. It will be most beneficial for him to be breastfed BEFORE meals. That way he will be more hungry for the breastmilk before he is offered anything else. Anyhow, that is my suggestion for you and your baby's well being.

Every kid is different, so I wouldn't worry about what the other babies are doing... they'll all get to solids at diff. times.

My son is 10.5 months old and has been eating solids for about a month. He has no interest in baby food at all, he wants to feed himself! He takes about 3 bottles a day, and has a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks with his 3 year old brother.

As long as yours is gaining weight and growing well, I wouldn't worry too much.

My son is 7.5 months old and he is so about the solids. I make my own food, so I can't tell you how many jars he eats, but he a small meal is 3-4 oz of solids. Some times he eats like 6 or 7! I can't make enough food for the little guy, and he has started eating table food too --loves Cheerios!

He has really cut down on breastfeeds, though, he has started waking up one more time at night.

Each kid is different. My daughter was always more about the boob than solids, but my son, from day one, is about the solids. He showed all the signs at 4 months but I put off baby food till 5. I have no doubt he will self-wean himself by 11 months --at the latest. I plan on talking to the Dr at our 9 month visit about introducing whole milk early.

Our experience with our son taught us to let him eat as much as he wants too. He will start playing with his food when his belly is full. The doctor can tell you based on his height and weight if he's too big or small.

the best advise I can give any mother is NEVER compare your child to ANYONE elses. If your baby wants to eat then let him eat. My daughter went through MANY growth spurts in her first year of life and ever growth spurt she was a bottomless pit. Just when I thought that she was done because the portion I had prepared for her was gone she was crying for more. Now she is almost 13 months old and she needs to eat like every 5 min. She eat more in a day than I do...a grown adult! but she is in the 50th percentile and I am told VERY healthy. If her has teeth you might want to think about taking away the baby food and giving him more table food. You will find that the table food will fill him up more and he gets more flavor and satisfaction from it. But like everything new take it slow.
