My daughter recently dropped out of a public high school with plans to attend a private school next year. The private school does not enroll mid year. I would like for her to take some classes to get the credits she is missing. She only needs 1/2 credit in all the core academics. The school says she does not need to have these before she begins in the fall but of course before graduation. She would be currently in 10 entering 11 in the fall. BUT she needs something to do NOW! I would prefer something outside of the home and not an online course. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

You have a lot going on! I know that Georgetown isd has an alternative education program (and I think that Round Rock does to) designed for students who do not fit into a traditional educational setting. The classes are excellorated to fit the needs of the child.
Good luck - the statistics for people who drop out are ghastly.

Try your local community college; they may offer high school core curriculum classes. Not only that, but if you're lucky, and depending on the course, they may transfer as freshman-level college classes, too.
Try calling American Youth Works or Eagle Academy (formally Premiere Academy)...they are both off of Ben White in Austin. Hope that helps.
She may qualify to take two dual enrollment classes at ACC this summer. I think the test she would take to see if she's capable of handling the material is called the Compass test, and once she passes that, then she can take 2 high school credit classes during the summer months. The beauty of these is that they also count as college credits, and they are free in-district. They are also called ECS (Early College Start) classes.
