My dson will be 15 months old here at the end of the month. He's been showing me signs that he's done with having 2 naps a day. My first son was at a sitter's house full time when he was this age and he moved into 1 nap a day after he ate lunch, but it was all at the sitters house, and she told me that he was down to one nap a day. I'm not 100% sure how to go about making the switch. His current schedule is waking up in the morning about 7-7:30, am nap after snack at 9:30-until about 11. He eats lunch about 11:45 and goes down for his afternoon nap after snack about 1:45-2. He wakes up between 3:30-4:30. And bath time starts at 8:30 with stories and milk afterward and then bedtime by 9. I'm hoping to get him down to one nap and then moving his bath time up toward 7:30-8ish. Any thoughts on how to go about this? Thanks so much for any advice!

My son kinda went cold turkey at daycare, right at that age too. The nap was about 12-2 (although at home it might go longer), and bedtime might be a bit earlier. We kept it consistent that weekend, and he was good after a week or so. Also, he was getting up at about 6 and going down about 6:30, just for reference.

I do daycare and I do just sort of start keeping them up for that morning thing and distracted and awake. You could maybe move lunch a tad bit earlier...say 11am and nap right after and slowly wean that to a more normal time frame. At my daycare we eat lunch between 12-12:30 or so. Nap starts at 1pm till about 3:30/4pm (I scoop them out of nap room as they wake..but most are asleep till close to 4..even my 3 year olds.)

The first week or 2 might be bumpy, but at that age, I no longer do 2 naps. My goal is by the first birthday to have them off 2 naps if I can. Some go sooner to 1 nap, some take a few more weeks, but I shoot for that 12 month mark if I can. For 13 years in home daycare, this has mostly worked :-)

Good luck!

The easiest way is to gradually move the morning nap 1/2 hour later every few days, and eventually skip the afternoon nap altogether. Best of luck! The second year is so much fun!

I would like to point out i was not allowed to stay up till nine till middle school lol! my son is 15mnths old as well and has been doing one nap a day for the past three months. I usually follow his lead (when he is tiered he naps) but lately we have been having a more set scheadule. he gets up about 8am and plays in his crib (talks to his stuffed animal...so cute!) till 8:30 when I get him (I have to have his breakfast ready when I pull him from the crib or he gets impatient.) I get him up and change him and give him breakfast he eats while I make mine. then I clean him up and we "rescue" winnie the pooh from my son's crib. he plays while I eat then we play together till about 9:30 (this is where I work out he acts as my little coach holding my water bottle and patting me on the head lol) then at 10:40 he watches Elmos world while I shower. I get him dressed when I am doen and at noon he eats lunch then takes his nap he usually sleeps till 2. at 5 he has dinner and at 6:30 bath time. at 6:45 is story time and then we sing a song and I put him down for bed at 7. he usually falls asleep within 15 min. and sleeps through the night

My 14 yo is down to one nap a day. He used to take a morning nap but we started keeping him busy and awake. He quickly got used to an early lunch (11-11:30) and going down by 12:00-12:30. He takes a 2 hour nap and stays up till 7pm and then he crashes all night till I wake him up in the morning 6:30-7am. Reducing to one nap has ensured him to sleep all through the night.
