I see this question so much on here but I am looking for ideas. She was going to bed at 7:30, I tried 7:00 for 2 weeks and it didn't help. We have been doing 8pm for about a week with only a few days of improvement (not today). She takes 2 naps still and doesn't seem ready to give up the morning nap. She naps about 2 hours in morning and 2 in afternoon. Should I cut those short? Her room is dark and I have a white noise machine. I put few dolls and extra paci's in crib thinking she'll play a bit in morning but she starts getting noisy right away and I don't want her to wake my 4 year old, so I go get her (even though Healthy Habits book says don't go to the child before 6am). She isn't hungry, she plays til about 7 then has breakfast. I go to bed early, so I can deal with it, but I would love her to sleep til 6. Ideas? Thanks mamas!

What can I do next?

Definately drop to 1 nap. She probably still needs the morning nap because she is waking up so early. I would hold her off the morning nap and put her down a t like 11:30 and hopefully she takes a 2 or 3 hr nap and then if you want it to be later start pushing it back. I always like the 1-3 or 3:30 nap its the right time that i need some quiet by myself time. Good luck

cut down to one nap. and maybe she is only getting up at that time because she KNOWS you are going to get up with her. my son knows I will not get up that early. I put him to bed at 7 and I get up between 8-8:30 so thats when I get him up. he usually sleeps till 7:30-8 and then he plays in his crib for a half hour til mommy comes to get him for breakfast.

This is a typical wake up time for a young child.

some kids get up early. My daughter was always up by 5:30. Then, it became 6, and now at 2.5 it's 6:30-7:00. My son, otoh, has always slept till at least 6, no matter when he goes to bed, be it at 5:30 or 6:30. We all have our own natural biorhythms.

I'm an early riser myself, always have been.

Virtual <<hug>> for you . . . my 16 yr old used to do this.

Now I can't pry him out of bed before 10 am.

Hang in there. It seems like it will never end but it does, way too fast.

I would cut down the afternoon nap she is already getting about 10 hrs at night and toddlers only require 10-13 hrs of sleep total your daughter is getting a total of 14 hrs.

We are not early risers around here so when my DD did this it was awful for everyone. Your best bet in my opinion is to try and drop a nap. If you think she needs the morning nap then drop the afternoon nap. This will cause some grouchyness and some adjustment to the nap schedule but might make everyone happier in the end. Mine went from taking 2 2 hour naps to one 3 hour nap and sleeps until 7 or 8 am. I think either she is just an early riser or she is getting too much sleep during the day.

Take a look at this http://www.babycenter.com/0_how-much-sleep-does-your-chil.... It sounds like she's napping more than necessary. I'd go for shifting some of that sleep to the 5:30-7AM time frame. :) Start by cutting one nap shorter and shorter (which ever makes more sense for your life) then eventually dropping it entirely. With my son he needed an afternoon nap big time but could handle being up until about 1pm. After that it all went to hell in hand basket. :)

my kids did this.. my son was up at 4 or 5 am for several months.. most kids have a set wake up time and they get up at that time no matter when you put them to bed... you are on the right track.. experiment... earlier bedtime, later bedtime.. try cutting back on naptimes.. at 13 months.. my son had given up the morning napt and took a long afternoon nap..

I am doing a sleep log for my 3 and 5 year olds.. they are cutting back on naps.. but still need them or they are too crabby..
