10 Month Old Spitting Up

My daughter will be 10 months old next week and she is still spitting up. It's not as bad as it was but I just don't understand why she is still spitting up. My son stopped spitting up at five months. She is on food and still has maybe two bottles a day of soy formula. Any advice?? We do had zantac but they gave us pepermint and that is to strong for her tummy I don't know if they have other flavors or not. Thanks S.

What can I do next?

As long as she's happy, don't worry about it. My first son continued to spit up until a 18-19mo. My almost 13mo old also still spits up ocassionally. Some kids take a little longer to develop their digestive systems.

Myself and my daughter were both spitters until we hit a year old, but neither of us were ever on medication for stomach troubles.

As for the flavoring in the zantac just ask your pharmacist and switch if they do not offer other flavoring.

She could be allergic to the "SOY". As of last week my son was tested for food allergy and long and behold he is allergic to "soy". He is 3. I wish i had him tested when he was a baby bc he was on special formula for spitting up. When he was a infent he spit up after every bottle. I wish my mother instects would have told me to get him tested. So anyway, before you go and give your child all sorts of medications it would be in your best interset to go to a allergist and at least rule out some things. Hope this helps. A. M.

My 8 month old has been having lots of trouble also, but hers just started a couple months ago, she was throwing up a few times a day. We tried everything that the doctor recommended, even did an Upper GI to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. Everything was fine there so they put her on Reglan and it seems to be doing the trick. She is on Soy formula already, we just still aren't sure why this all just started out of no where. The Reglan seems to be working and she hasn't thrown up since last Saturday and only spit up once. Check with your doctor about the Reglan and she what they say. My nephew was on it when he was a baby also and it worked great for him as well. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

My son is now 16 months old, but for the first 13 months he was spitting up everywhere, all the time. Our days revolved around bibs and burp rags. I tried every kind of formula there is I think and finally gave in to the fact that nothing helped. He was on Zantac for 3 months but it didn't seem to make a difference so I ended up taking him off of it.
In the end the formula that worked best for us was Enfamil A.R. Lipil. He was on soy formula for awhile, as well as and it was no better than regular formula. The Enfamil A.R. is more expensive, but it cut his spitting up in half, so we were very happy!
Now when he turned one things changed entirely!! I first tried regular whole milk and his spitting up seemed to get majorly worse. So we tried lactose free whole milk and he quit spitting up almost entirely!! As we introduced more and more solid foods I began to notice a pattern and now he is off of anything and everything dairy and doing great. I bought some soy milk and he seems to tolerate it fine as well as the lactose free. The only other dairy he gets is a soy yogurt that I've found. If he does eat a dairy product, he will spit up several times afterwards.
The doctor says that they typically outgrow lactose intolerance between one and two years old, and I'm really hoping so because he loves cheese and I hate that I can't give it to him!
Good luck with figuring out what works for your little one. It was quite an experience for us that took over a year for us to figure out what worked for him! I finally got to get rid of all of the TONS of bibs we had and it was nice, lol.

My twins are 8 months old and still spitting up. I didn't realize it was a problem. Like your daughter, they are not spitting up as much as the used to, but still spit up after meals. I don't think it's anything to be too concerned about. As long as she's still gaining weight and is a "happy spitter" (per my doctor), she will be fine!

Try getting the prescription filled at CVS they put flavoring in the zantac to make it more appealing, I think the only flavor that covers up the peppermint is the grape. It worked wonders with my DD once I figured out they had flavoring.

Hey Sandy and all the other moms that have the same problem
Try getting baby acididopolis at the health food store. If your kids take bottles give the recommend amount in one bottle once a day, if your kids have teeth you can give them the chewable wafers (strawberry flavored). It has worked for both all 3 of my kids. I managed to get my son off both reglan and zantac by using this. IT's awesome and natural!! You might want to give your kiddo twice the dosage for awhile to really replenish their system. Just like when my kids are on antibiotics I give them extra. No upset tummies when I do.

Hi...my son was on Zantac when he was little....it took his breath away becasue the mint was so strong so the doc switched him to...i think it was protonix....anyway, it was MUCH better than the Zantac (not only worked better but didn't have the strong flavor) the only downside, was that we had to mix it with the water ourselves, it didn't come already suspended in a liquid like most meds.
