Here are ten more reasons why Mamapedia is your best source for mom wisdom.

Please remember to always check with your doctor or nurse practitioner before trying any supplements and/or if this condition worsens.

Help! Co-worker needs method for fighting morning sickness ASAP.
I have a co-worker who is pregnant with her first. She is currently on vacation, and suffering from morning sickness:(
Do you have a great method she can try to cut that horrible feeling? Thanks!!!

Kelly B. from Thousand Oaks answers:
What worked for me was sucking on lemon wedges. Preggie pops helped, too.

Jennifer P. from San Juan Capistrano answers:
Linum B-6 helped me a TON, and like twelve of my friends. It’s a flax-based B vitamin and if she can’t keep it down in the AM, she take it right before she goes to bed at night. It’s almost instant.

Allie P. from Janesville answers:
She should avoid letting her stomach get too empty. Keep snacks on hand. What works best for me are slightly bland, but salty snacks-things like saltines, goldfish crackers, Ritz crackers, pretzels.

Jane from San Clemente answers:

Even blood sugars – skip all sugar (honey, juice, white sugar, syrup) and eat smaller meals more – always with some protein or fiber to slow absorption.

Renee C. from Laguna Niguel answers:
Sea-Band wrist bands worked great for me.
I had to take my pre-natal vitamins at night before bedtime because they made me queasy. If I took them before bed I would sleep thru the queasiness. Hope that helps.

Jane K. from Overland Park answers:
I had to put crackers, or pop tarts, in my desk and eat them at a certain time. That was the only thing that worked, even though I ate a good breakfast. I got sick AFTER I got to work, too. She’ll just have to see what works best for her!!

Gingermom from Gainesville answers:
Ginger ale,
Sprite,
Lemonheads candies (something about the tart helps),
pickled ginger (just a tiny bite would help me).
I also had to eat on a pretty regular schedule. I knew when I was getting close to the time (about every 2 hours LOL) because I’d start feeling nauseous.

S. H. from Kailua answers:
I had terrible morning sickness AND migraines with both my pregnancies.
The ONLY thing that stopped it was acupuncture.
This was suggested to me by my OB/GYN. It does not hurt, it is actually very relaxing…and it works.

Priscilla M. from Arvada answers:
Peppermint tea and lemon-lime soda got me through. I had to have something to sip on or snack on ALL the time. Lots of saltines :)

Catherine C. from San Francisco answers:
With my first baby, I was on a super high-dose iron supplement and it made me sicker than a dog! I spoke with my doctor and he switched my vitamins. It didn’t totally eliminate the morning sickness, but I felt a lot better. Also, a higher dose of B vitamins may help.

The other thing that I tried that did help was to eat ginger. You can get little jars of pickled ginger, usually in the Asian section of the grocery store. Just eating a little bit, or even drinking ginger tea, can help calm the stomach.
