So What Happened?

i run an ad blocker all the time so don't get the popups. 30 ads are currently being blocked on this page!

glad to see it's not just me, and many thanks to our mod for chiming in.

i know mercury is in retrograde, which always balls up electronics, but the endless 503 error messages are really maddening.

No, it's just you ... just kidding!

I find it happens to me most when I leave a page open and try to come back to it and write a response. That's when I type and hit "post" and get nothing. So if I've walked away, I try to remember to copy what I've written, just in case.

I do think this has been happening a bit more lately.

Hi S.,

I assure you that MP does not hate you. Far from it, we really appreciate this feedback. We continue to work on improving the overall responsiveness and usability of the site. We apologize for any inconvenience, and thanks in advance for your continued patience. Our goal is not only make the site reliable but even more enjoyable to use.

I have had your issues before but not lately.
I think it helps to clear your cache and cookies every so often.
Sometimes it's some ads that are a problem but it's nothing that AdBlock Plus (an AddOn for FireFox) can't handle.
I also run CCleaner every so often.

i am going to cross my fingers and knock on wood since i have not been having many issues with it. but our systems are set to clear cookies and such every week, and our antivirus stops most bad ads that cause issues for my tablet.

I often have the same problem. I just routinely write my responses in a word document, then copy/paste. If I even start typing into the regular response box, I can lose it halfway through and long before I have a chance to copy/paste after the fact. I think some of it is due to the rash of pop-up ads I get (which I don't think are unique o MP).

Yes, I posted a question a week ago and it posted 4 times when I only submitted it once. The moderators cleaned it up afterwards, but still - definitely glitchy.

Yes - much more glitchy than usual, I get that big error message also.

I keep hoping that means the site is down and they are working on it, although it that were the case, a different message would be nice (easier to deal with).

I hear you!

I find it helps tremendously to get into a new private window on my browser before going to the mamapedia site. It blocks a lot of the ads that slow the site down and it prevents all of the cookies they put on your computer which also slow the site down. The site is overloaded with ads.

Yes, it has been crazy. It took a couple of tries to simply respond to your question. Are the administrators working on this?

I went back to read other answers and my short answer to another post I wrote 15-20 minutes ago disappeared after I posted it. I think I saw it posted before I went to another question but can't be sure. I usually look before I leave question to see if the post actually posted.

I've started posting every few lines and then go back to add more as an edit. The post that disappeared was just a few lines. Perhaps I'll try answering else where; then cut and paste.
