Why Am I at Work?

I want to be off work! everyone I know is off. The 5 of us are sitting at the office doing absolutely nothing. We are internet shopping. Looking up recipes. Talking about our plans and gifts with each other. Why am I at work? Are you at work too? This bites the big one. What are you doing at the office today? "What would you be doing, if you werent at work right now?" I WANNA GO HOME! I would be spiffying up the house for my guests, last minute wrapping, going to liquor store for my punch ingrediants, watching Christmas movies and singing silly songs with my kids. Maybe even a sneak in a nap with Mr. Claus! :)

What can I do next?

I'm at work and bored. Well I'm sitting at my desk reading. ;)

If I wasn't at work I would be home with my husband and kids (who have started their winter break since DH works for a school) and helping them clean. I just called them a little bit ago and they were cleaning. My mom is coming into town tonight and I want the house clean. I would also probably be catching up on TV shows. :)

One of the managers has been on vacation all week. One of the secretaries raided one of their gift baskets that has been sitting in her office. So we are feasting on cheese and crackers.

No work getting done here either. We are sitting at our desks for the most part, going through the motions but mentally we have already left for the weekend. :)

oookay but you could be working a job where they actually expect you to work when you're on the clock :) sounds like you're getting a paid screw off day to me...be grateful :) i was fortunate enough to be able to take today off - but my whole team are there, working their butts off, NOT playing on the internet and gossiping all day. enjoy yourself a nice slacker day and have a wonderful christmas!

next year maybe request it off? have fun! :)

You are at work because you have a job, and it requires you to be at work today. At least you have the freedom at work to be doing all of these things. Maybe you could even slip in a little bit of actual work too.
Be grateful for your job -- there are so many people in the US that are out of work and wish they had a job that they had to go to today.

I have a retail store so we are open and the clerks are busy, I was checking the weather to see if my husband is going to be able to get home tonight/tomorrow and so far it's a YES, so I'm happy. I actually enjoy being here (at work) it's the clam before the storm of family, streaming kids and too much food. lol

At least you get paid for being a body in an office. I freelance from home so if I'm not actively answering messages, I'm not getting paid.

Hey, you're getting paid to do nothing ;)

I work from home, so it's no different today than any other day, except my husband finally caught the stomach bug the rest of us had 2 weeks ago, and it's like having another kid in the house. I'm lysoling the heck out of everything and waiting to get in my bedroom to finish wrapping presents, because tomorrow, the mayhem begins!!

Hang in there, not too much longer ;)

I'm at work, too. My commute this morning was SUPER fast because there was nobody on the road! It's nice and quiet in the office. I'm not feeling stressed. Looking forward to the holiday. :-) Just try to find the "bright side."
Merry Christmas!!

If I was at home I would be with my hubby, it's his day off and our eight month old son, getting the house ready for my uncle and aunt, my son's God parents to visit us tonight! And doing some last minute gift shopping! Merry Christmas to you and yours! ;)

I lucked out and got to take a half day yesterday. All my odd to do things were done so I went home. My boss asked me if I wanted to leave andI said if I could it would be nice. Today my job is closed and we don't go back until Jan 2, 2012. So they call it the winter break (university). It's nice and one of the perks I like about the job -- I could use up all my vacation time and know that I would have the week betweenChristmas and New Year's off.

I am thankful for the job especially at my age.

Have a good holiday to all.

The other S.
