So What Happened?

We had a fantastic time! We stayed at the Lifestyle Hacienda Resort outside of Puerto Plata. The beach wasn't what I expected. It was very rocky. You could tell that they had imported some sand. But we spent most of our time at the VIP pool area. The service was fantastic and the people were very friendly. Two thumbs up!!!

Hi there I have been to the Dominican Republic and know some people that live there. I stayed on a resort, Casa De Campo. Very Beautiful, the water was great and I did not have any problems getiing sick. The one thing I did not get on time was my luggage, it came a few days later.

My husband and I went to Punta Cana, DR summer 2006 we stayed at the Ocean Bavaro resort and had a wonderful time. I dont think that you will have any problems with the drinking water although they do offer bottled water if you're concerned. I didnt venture off the resort too much so I couldnt advise on the cultural aspect. you will have a wonderful time. I cant wait to go back!!

We took our kids about 4-5 years ago. We had a wonderful time. The kids were around 8 & 9, boy & girl. They too had a terrific time. No illness or incidences at all. Enjoy your trip.

Our family went during Spring Break this year. My husband (34) and I (36) with 3 kids 18, 16, and 6. It was gorgeous. We loved it. The ocean was so beautiful and my son and husband left the resort to play golf. We stayed at the Ocean Blue Golf and Beach resort. The food was also really good there. I'm not sure what you mean about bugs?

The only bad thing is that a young lady was ther with her college friends (19) and she died. She was in the water and I really don't know what happened. This was sad but could happen anywhere.

Have Fun!

Hi S.!

I've never been but My best friend and his wife went for there wedding Anniversary and they loved it.

My aunts best friends daughter 20 years old went over there with a friend for the weekend and she came back complaining of headaches and vomiting and she died 2 days later; she had menigitis from drinking the water.
Sad she was her mothers only child.

However you can still have fun just be cautious and take handsantizers and only drink bottle water...it's beautiful!

Have Fun in the Sun!

We have been many places with our boys, now 11 & 5.
DR was my FAVORITE vacation EVER!!!!!!! Everyone is sooo nice over there & helpful. Beautiful beaches & water. We went end of Dec - mid January. Weather was awesome - no a/c, but no need for it.(We rented a rather large house w/in laws & other family). I felt very safe the entire time.
Was a little difficult at times becuase we don't speak spanish=), but brought a dictionary. They eat LOTS of beans & rice made their way.

You MUST go to the waterfalls. You climb up these falls & walk and walk. BUT, then you come back & get to slide down some of them and dive or jump off others(you may climb back down at the end also). It was SO beautiful, just bring good water/walking type shoes! I would love to get your email address & I can send you some personal photos, if you like. LOTS of tours, great, but shop around for the best deals!! Everything can be negotiated.

Hi S.,
From my experience in foreign countries- the water and food at the resorts and major hotels should be ok. I would not drink water or eat any produce, fruit or any other foods that needed to be washed outside these establishments. You are safe with a bottled drink however.....
What a wonderful thing- 50 years- congrats to your parents. Have a wonderful trip
good luck and blessing

My daughter jus came from her honeymoon in dominican republic. They stayed at Bahia Principe Ambar and she says that it not goo it is AWESOME, SUPERB. They are already planning their first anniversary there. The facilities were beautiful, clean and there was no ned to go anywere else because they have everything you need for a short stay of 7 days. The food delicious and included in package. They could eat in anyone of their five resorts as well as see anyone of the shows. She did not mention any bugs but just in case take some insect repelent. As far as water even here in USA we drink bottled water, so do the same. Enjoy Have fun and may God bless youevery minute of it and my congratulations to your parents on their 50th anniversary.
